abrasive: i dont see how homosexuality is hurting anybody in any way. just because someone is gay doesn't mean they're out preaching it to little kids or raping them. you don't have to agree with it but at least let them live their lives.

halfie/somberlain: i'd have to say i agree with halfpint in many ways. first of all i disagree with the whole, "when you find out you're adopted you feel rejected" etc. i'm adopted and have never felt that way. i've known since i could talk and although sometimes im sad i prefer that than the fact i could never have been born. and i could've made the same choice, to abort my own baby just because i'm young, but the thing is, i look at her now and it is a shame that there are girls who go out and have multiple abortions, or an abortion just because they are "too scared" to tell their parents. i've always known that the fact is, if my birth-mother had kept me she would've had no way to take care of me. and she was very brave for giving me the chance to live my life with a family who could take care of me and give me everything she wanted to, but couldn't. i am not completely against abortion, i just think there are better options.

and i also have to say that teenage mothers aren't the stereotype everyone makes them out to be. some of the smartest, most determined girls i have ever met are young mothers, and i really think people shouldn't deem us as "sluts" or that we sleep around. most of them had only had one boyfriend (like me) and were still with them. it's just something that happened and we are strong enough to live with it and keep trying to succeed.

I agree completely. Most people that call preganant teen mothers sluts are just fuckin' morons. Its a proven fact that most people like sex. So God forbid somebody go out and do it then a slip up happen.

I'm so happy I don't live in the states but in a country with a decent political system. In Holland you can legally buy and smoke weed, everyone can marry and if for example a condom goes to hell (these things can happen and have nothing to do with a beerded dude called god) you can abort the thing and don't have to walk around with an unwanted kid.

I'm not putting you down or ragging you out, and I respect your opinions. But I attack them as well, as is usual when discussing a subject, by putting forth my views of the matter, and finding weaknesses (as I see them) in your arguments.

ok...so yesterday was a bad day as a whole; when it's a bad day i'm inclined to act rather impulsively, not think things through, run around in circles arguin, etc. [like i've said, hindsight is 20/20.] however despite this, some of the [as you put it] weaknesses in my arguments are there because at the time i was not quite inclined to fill them in because filling them in would mean i'd have to put forth some pretty personal stuff, and i'm not quite comfortable with putting them up on the board.

my reason for that is relatively easy to explain. i've had this argument before with friends i've known since i was a kid and i pulled out all the stops; at the time i was in a perfectly fine mood, so nothing was missing and i wasn't acting impulsively. however after backing up my arguments with my reasons for the way i think, you wouldn't, and maybe couldn't, begin to imagine what i felt when they turned those reasons into ways to hurt me and make me feel like shit- not just within our little group, but in the classroom at school as well.

now, see it from my point of view: here i was yesterday, sitting here and thinking- if that happened while discussing this topic with friends i've known pretty much my whole life -friends i thought i could trust and who i thought would understand - what could possibly come about if i pulled out every stop on this thread in an argument with people i don't even know in real life and people i've never even talked to? forgive me for speculating, but here my reason is plain. i thought i could trust my friends, but it turned out that i couldn't. i don't even know most of the people around here; how do you think i'm going to react to the thought of posting deeply personal reasons on this thread for everyone who visits this forum to see?
