and Jim (and the rest of the band, of course) for last nights show in Atlanta. I have waited 17 years to see you live, and was totally knocked on my ass last night in Atlanta.
(A little quick history for the forum: I have loved Warrel and Jim since 1988 and the Sanctuary release of "Refuge Denied", and have followed Nevermore since day one. Due to a broken van in Memphis a few years ago, Nevermore was unable to make a Nashville gig and I missed them. This year at Gigantour we got stuck in traffic and missed their set, but did get to meet the band! **Prior to these two opportunities I was having *many* kids, and for the past several years I have been raising them alone. Needless to say, travel, even to Atlanta, had to wait until the kids were older and I had a little extra cash.)
When I saw this tour was coming to Atlanta, I took two days off work, rented a car, grabbed two of the oldest kids to come with me and went to Atlanta! I drove back to Nashville after the show, got two hours of sleep and WOULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN TOMORROW.
Nevermore was everything I had hoped they'd be, and more. We were about 5 people away from the stage (until the mosh pit started *sigh*), and knew every song, every word, every guitar riff. And, after the third song (I think) Warrel announced that we were being taped for a DVD coming out late next year! This show was the perfect end to a very long wait for me. I hope to get this opportunity again. And again. And again.
And just FYI, Beyond Within was great to hear! I actually played that on New Years Eve 1999 when the ball dropped instead of Auld Lang Sine. "Welcome millenium..." just seemed perfect to bring in 2000.
Warrel, Jim, Jeff, Van, and Steve: Thank you from a huge fan, who thought she knew how great you were going to be, and who was blown away by just how amazing you all are live. I have read this forum for years, hearing everyone post about seeing you play and just trying to wait for my turn. I finally got it!!
And to all Forum members: I apologize for all the blubbering here. No one but you people here, aside from my kids and a small group of friends, could possibly understand how much this show meant to me. I had to have some way to let the band know. Thank you for letting me take up some space here for a day!
