Who Cares if they were or not. Theres alot of bands that have satanic lyrics and they're just showing their artistic side. Its not like they're satanists in real life. And Plus, Opeth hasn't really written anything satanic since their days before Orchid.

have they heard the lyrcis? if not, then you should tell this person that there is a difference between music and religion... satanism doesn't go hand and hand with any style of music. if you ask this person, "if this is the music of satan, what kind of music is the music of god?" and he responds with, "*distand stare* i don't know...*angry snap* but its certainly not opeth!"...then he shouldn't take music as a personal attack on his religion.
