I have never heard these albums:

Omen - Battlecry
Witchfynde - Give em Hell
Witchfinder General - Death Penalty

Am I alone in this madness?

Doomcifer, what say thee?

:Spin:

It really is sad that there are people who listen to metal and never heard of these albums. On topic:

Omen - Battlecry
Epic, raw, primitive, influenced by Iron Maiden and Thin lizzy, heavy metal. One of the best voices in metal EVER (i mean it)..THE most unique one for sure, epic metal was rarely sang with such passion and emotion. Buy or die material.. you're gonna love it.

Witchfynde - Give em Hell
This is my favourite N.W.O.B.H.M album. Another UNBELIEVABLE voice in this one, incredible atmosphere, "catchy" (in a good way) songs, classic riffs and melodies, just imagine Pagan Altar with less Sabbath influences. Witchfynde are better of course.

This is a pure Black Sabbath worship album, they were the most sabbath-ic N.W.O.B.H.M. band, without copying any riff (which is a miralce since even Cathedral have "Stolen" Sabbath riffs). I dont know what can i say about albums like this one.. its perfection in all aspects, never-heard-before FANTASTIC-PERFECT-ETC riffs, lots of energy, more-ozzy-than-ozzy vocals (without Ozzy's lovely flaws), again the magical N.W.O.B.H.M. atmosphere, random lyrics about lsd, hot witches and excommunication, just buy it.

For all those still salivating for pics. :p

There are many people who will say that Pagan Altar are better than Witchfynde but lets get realistic. "Give Em Hell" is a fucking CLASSIC, a rare piece of music, when you will listen to it and get into its trip you will understand it.

Well, to be fair, isn't Pagan Altar also a "classic, rare piece of music"?

Even with all the RC talk and reviews and threads, there are people even on this forum that have YET to hear Pagan Altar, so I'm not sure what it's like in other circles. I guess we've exhausted all discussion on PA so time for some 'new' cult finds.....

Until recently, Pagan Altar was a rarity right? And I notice Witchfynde has been recently re-released....I'll track these down somewhere for certain.

P.A. music is classic, but not their name/legacy AND MUSIC. Witchfynde are classic in all aspects. The world of metal didnt really know Pagan Altar before 5 years, while Witchfynde were already hailed as N.W.O.B.H.M. kings. If "classic" stands for anything that passed the test of time, then Witchfynde deserve the title more since they were widely known then AND now. Pagan Altar's way of things was different.
