Hey, I'm IronBeard new to this forum and relatively new to Opeth. Got into Opeth through Porcupine Tree (My favorite band.) Anyway, Just wanted to say Opeth are phenominal. I've been listening to music for many years, and Opeth do more in one ten minute song than most bands do in a whole album.Next to Daniel Gildenlow of Pain of Salvation, Michael Akerfeldt has the absolute best voice in any genre. And is also a brilliant guitar player and composer. Also, really appreciate the excellent foundation of Mendez and Lopez. Strong! I know alot of "old-timers" who can't take the growls,and like "Damnation." I say Bullshit, you want to get the true and complete affect of Opeth you need to hear all their work. So, I tell them they are doing themselves a big disservice by not listening because of the growls. Look at the voice as an instrument(for that's what it is) and you will learn to appreciate what Opeth is doing. I have been on other metal forums and Opeth seem to get slagged alot. Some call them gay and overrated. I say their just not listening. Opeth are one of the most innovative and original bands ever. Filled with icy beauty and bone-chrushing riffage.
