Well just like any other joke, it's only funny to those people who agree with it or dislike the person being zinged. If Dream Theater made a similar joke in regards to Agalloch, I'm sure all the Agalloch fans would be up in arms about it, so whatever. I prefer not to publicly make wisecracks like that or serious comments like about other bands because it only causes arguements in the scene and can sometimes even work against you in the end. To each their own.

While I agree 100% with you, you can not deny how damn funny it is.
DT has always been the butt of many jokes in the scene.
Just how it always has been, and probably always will.
For the record, I do consider myself a casual DT fan, but it's hard to really disagree with most of the negative things that are said about them.
1) They are pretentious as hell.
2) James LaBrie has no ballz in his vocals (Doesn't mean he is a bad singer tho)
3) They can be a snore live
4) Their lame attempt at "metalness" with recent tough guy photo shoots
5) Etc, Etc,.....

I'm not really a fan of Dream Theater, but I thought they were pretty entertaining live. They kind of showed off a bit but otherwise put on a good show.

I have seen them twice.
The first time was headlining on their TRAIN OF THOUGHT tour.
That was a VERY VERY hard show to make it through.
Just dragged and dragged.
Second time was this summer with Maiden, where I agree they did a very good job. Very good choice of songs in my opinion for their slot supporting Maiden.
Hey, I said I do consider myself somewhat of a fan. Just hard to deny the shit that gets slung in their direction, which made the comment from Agalloch funny.
Can't be in this biz if you don't have a thick skin, ya know?

I doubt that DT gives two shits about what Agalloch or ND or any other bands like ours has to say about them, to be perfectly honest with you. I'm sure their skin is plenty thick. I wasn't saying they shouldn't hurt other bands' feelings, lol, I'm saying that statements like that just fuel more of the underground fights and bickering and bullshit that goes on between fans, etc. And I'm not a big fan of that, and I try to stay away from causing stuff like that.
There's alot of bands out there who I think are boring and overrated and too full of themselves, but I'll keep those comments and jokes to myself or between close friends. Whatever, like I said, bands can run their own business however they choose to and it's their business.
Larry, ok, I see your point a little more clear now, since the statement was made on behalf of the band as a whole, and not just one member.
Case in point, you have given me crap online and in person about bands like Manowar and Rhapsody (just like DT, bands that can easily be subject to ridicule!), but Novembers Doom as a band would never make a statement slagging a band.
No doubt that DT couldn't care less what Agalloch has to say, nor do they know who they even are most likely.
Still generated a hell of a lot of LOL's out of me and many others.

my band is almost finished doing a cover of metal warriors. i need to take some guitar lessons, cause i can hear how poorly i play when its recorded.

Really dude? To be honest, I am not really thrilled with this.
It's a major sign to me that they are out of steam, or just not motivated to do anything new.
It's a shame, since I felt their last EP "Thunder in the Sky" was pretty solid.
Oh well. I would just be happy if they would do another proper US tour.
I am sure Larry would be front row and Center!!!!
