I don't generally read popularity contests from fans of bands, so I don't really know what people rank albums as, but some of mine would be:

Dream Theater - Awake
Metallica - Kill 'Em All
Angra - Aurora Consurgens
Evergrey - The Inner Circle

I feel it's necessary to requalify that short list by saying that I know relatively few metalheads, and I don't get much time to pow around the internets to hang out with many there.

I love Gamma Ray and while I don't think it's a bad album, the problem with it for me is nothing's memorable.
