I was wondering, were Alexi's old RR's that got stolen completely custom shop jobs, or rather just refitted standard RRs? If they were just upgraded, what actual model was it?

Weren't they both stolen in the same place?

Yes. They were stolen at an after party of a gig they played with other bands on the same record label. The party was back at their rehearsal studio, he had left them behind some couches or something. They were gone the next day.

Yeah, its kinda old news, but it totally sucks notheless. Their sound has never been the same since. The downtuning began after than too...damn ESP...

I wonder what AYDY would have sounded like if he still had those guitars, but the ESP guitars are good too. Someone i know has that Alexi Laiho signiture guitar but he won't let me touch it.

Probably because he can invision you freaking out over it and breaking it.

It probably would have sounded the same, he wrote the music, not the guitars.

Personally, I'm an Ibanez fan because of the versatility of their RG and SA series guitars, but you know, I think ESP are alot better than Jackson, considering how Fender completely fucked up Jackson when they took over. Jackson produced great rock/metal guitars, but now they play like shit. I played a fresh low end RR model and it didn't play as well as they used to. Then again, maybe the higher end models would play better. My point is, from my experience ESP (Including their LTD series) are probably alot better than the current Jackson line of guitars.

But as I said before... Ibanez ftw. =D

Guitars only make up about 15% of the sound though. I mean okay, if Alexi had been dumb enough to play a Telecaster with a pair of single coil pickups when he was recording Something Wild, then used the current ESP models he uses for AYDY, then there'd be a difference. But no, the guitars he uses now, and what he used back then are pretty similar, so it shouldn't make TOO much of a difference. Maybe he just decided on a change on his rig? Maybe Roope influenced that? Who knows.

Dude, just fyi, i own a Telecaster with singlecoil pickups, and i compared it up to the BCRich Warlock and the Jackson Kelly i own, and the sound is very good. Also a telecaster is pretty sweet to play on, so don't diss it before you try it :p

What kind of rig were you using? Telecasters are awesome in my opinion, but they're definitely NOT a metal guitar. =P

BC Rich guitars just suck, and Jackson aren't as good as they used to be, although I did play one of the higher end RR's the other day at a music shop and it was pretty good, except for the usual balance issues with the strap. =P

But yeah, I mean if you were using a Marshall JCM with the distortion and gain cranked to full with a telecaster, it'd sound *okay* when you're playing, but you'd also get little in the way of harmonics, and you'd get ALOT of background noise. That's just from my experience anyway. =)
