alternative 4 is not good

If Danny would kindly check his wallet, he'll find the 20p that went to him after I bought it.

I'm providing you with a living more or less...!

i think that discussion is pointless - for me "Eternity", "Alternative4" and "Judgement" are complete masterpieces, & noone could convince me into opposite... only i guess AFDTE needs a bit more to be like real masterpiece, but i still like it a lot!!

would it surprise you if you knew how shit we felt then or how crap the whole situation was?
hm, interesting... (about the situation you had and why), it doesn't make sense??
by that time you have find yourself as a band?

..About that Alt4 opinion by ezekiel..erm everybody has different tastes in music..but still I think the best way to enjoy anathema's music is to follow them from the beginning..or From Serenades at least..their music style, in my opinion, has evolved from album to album in a unique way..as for saying their wannabe's pff..I mean man look around you! If you take it that way, All artists would be wannabees..it's, as someone said before me, an influence..and they take it from their in there unique way...

i guess that makes no difference...anathema has always been a bunch of misfits trying either to get on or put one up on eachother.alt4 is boss but i am starting to get sick (jealous) of the greeks worshipping it like they do. i am grateful and that for the support, but come on guys...you honestly think thats better than waters/dylan/drake/cobain/lennon/yorke/beethoven/amos?on the level maybe...
i always said dunc was on a par with greats, even if people never believed me. i guess what i mean is...
giz a chance !

Danny, is there anyway Anathema could remarket themselves ? I think all your music is great but I think you showed something special with Judgement. I think if Anathema want more success and mainstream media attention then I'd say Judgement was the sort of album to do that. If Anathema had started out (maybe with a different name if it's a problem but I like the name) with Judgement as the first album, I fail to see how they couldn't have become well known straight away because it's brilliant, better than anything by the popular muse or coldplay. It seems it's just not noticed because Anathema are classed as doom metal still which you are not. Does it seem this way to you? Is there a way Anathema could remarket themselves to bring media attention to yourselves ? It seems in this country it can't be done so well anymore if a band is classed as metal at all, do you think Anathema need to remarket themselves as something different, as just a 'rock' band to get noticed ? If it's what needs to be done I think it should somehow, I don't like seeing this great music not getting the full attention it deserves

Something is going a bit wrong in you're thinking in my opinion. These guys are all icons in music, but still I can't think of a band or singer songwriter making three albums which mean more to me than Anathema's alt4,judgement and afdte. The fact is, in my case, that the important ingredients that provide good music for me are all there. Sound, songwriting, the ability to express emotions probably the 3 most important ones. At the end of the day,I quote Waters ( Pompei video) all that matters is whether it moves you or not. Don't tell me if I listen better to the icons you're referring to I should be moved more by one of them.

This all doesn't mean I am gonna worship you. I can see that besides an artist making fine albums you're a lad very well comparable with the other lads on this forum, who is sometimes expressing opinions that aren't that convincing (which is not helping the worshipping thing, luckily). I think you're not in a good position to judge your own music in the perspective of music in general or the perspective of music created by the afore mentioned people.

What I might do, in stead of worshipping, is buy you a beer saturday in Apeldoorn and say 'well done, Danny ( if it was good of course) Cheers!':)

it's a shame and it's so true that metal in the UK hardly gets noticed whatever it's like. It's true that to get anywhere Anathema would have to possibly change their name and definately class themselves (if it's possible) as the genre rock or dare I say it 'indie rock' lol. Sad but it's true for this country. Do people agree that that's what anathema would have to do to get the success they deserve ?

well...i think the stuff u mentioned andy would certanly help to go mainstream..but that would mean adjusting yourself to get success..selling out basically...anathema is not about that I think..its not about success..success is great(sometimes) when it comes being what you are and want to be..but i dont think its right to adjust to get success..its not what its all about. oe.

@ezekiel: Maybe Serenades and The Silent Enigma would be up your alley, they are both very excellent albums with the good ol' death vox.

again, i just meant that towards a4 alone. while listening to that album, it sounded to me like they were really trying to sound like pink floyd. i didnt get this impression with any other song i heard from them (which is only the eternity cd, and a few from judgement and afdte) which i really like. i like the pink floyd influences on the rest of what i've heard, it just seems overkill on a4. but there's still a chance for a4 to grow on me in the future. this is just my first impression of it.

uh oh, i think i need one of these...

It's just taste Danny. You yourself said it on a previous post. I'm not making all these grandiose statements cos I want to please you or Dunc or anyone. I'm speaking for my self. That's how I feel. You might disagree with me. Me dad thinks Bach is God. Me sister reckons Britney Spears is awesome. I don't agree with them. But can I judge their opinions? No. It's their own feelings and perspective. I respect that. It's all about fuckin' taste man...

Hope you get me point :)
