Am I the only one who would love to hear this???

It already does .... doesn't it?

Well I felt like it too soft at times. Only three songs have growls and they are inconsistent throughout. What I meant was that I wanted more of the brutality of Heir Apparent and a little bit less of the soft; more of a direct balance, rather than being predominantly mellow. Thats just my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I loved the singing on Coil, Burden, Hex Om, and Hessian, but I would've liked to hear more growling.

I come out of listening to it wanting more... not that its a bad thing, I am just a big fan of Mike's more aggressive vocal...

I'd be more shocked and impressed if Opeth released an album of 2 minute punk style songs!
:puke:

I think a 2-disc concept album is a great idea. If they had enough time to come up with a good story. I have no problem with their lyrics. Not that anyone cares, but a concept on something about autumnal nature, like the northern forests, mixed in with some supernatural themes would be nice. Something to be released around Halloween time, with that vibe in mind. Not the cheesey Halloween vibe; but a really haunting and mysterious vibe. Autumn is my favorite time of the year anyway...:)

...but that's just me...

It would be awesome. I would really love to see that happen. I would hope its a very mysterious album, with somewhat cheap production quality and absolute fantastic story thats easy to follow.

oh ye of little faith!!, if Opeth did do an album of 2 minute punk songs, it would be like no-one elses 2 minute punk songs!..all this spooky concept idea stuff would be so predictable and dull..

there is NOTHING worse than a forced long-ass concept album :ayreon:

Yes there is. 2-minute punk songs!!

Forced would suck (obviously). How do you know it would be forced in the first place??

I don't think Opeth is epic enough to do it, but on the other hand, why not? There's never been another 20-minute epic after Black Rose Immortal which I personally dislike, but the idea of making a 160-minute album WITH longer than average Opeth songs might just work out fine.

I had a discussion with one of my friend who's also a huge Opeth fan and both of us agreed about the fact that Opeth should do a huge concept album. What I mean by concept album is full lenght story spread on two cd's. No dark/light side thing. Everything mix, long songs, short interlude, experimental break, etc. Lots of band made legendary records of that kind. Just think of Pink Floyd - The Wall, The Who - Quadrophenia, Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, etc. I think Opeth reach a level of musicianship that could do that kind of stuff.

To answer your thread's name : YES, YOU and YOUR FRIEND, that makes TWO already ;). Sorry just found it fun. I would like to see something like that too.
