Hi'all,

Got me a donated/ebayed ProTools III rig  . Within a couple of weeks an Adatbridge will arrive making this rig a perfect FXset for my RME'd hyperPC running the usual suspects in DAWland, offering seven realtime ampfarms at this moment. (Maybe I'll get me a 9600 and some more DSPfarms, they're dirtcheap)

My Q:

What's the general opinion on the Farm? I really like the Mesa with the Big Cabinet, much better then the general vststuff like guitarrig or amplitube.

Any suggestions on settings and stuff? Tubescreamerplug in front?

I don't like AmpFarm. Not on guitars anyway. I've had some cool results with it on bass and vocals before though.

Thanks for your comment. The ampfarm is basically a POD isn't it? (the first one)

Kind of... although I got better tones out of my original POD. Go figure. I think Line 6 doesn't want to make their software as good as their hardware. Amp Farm exists to sell PODs.

For Metal -I don't use it for anything else (yet)- there's only one setting I really like, the mesa with the big cabinet. Tried Guitarrig and Amplitube, this one sounds best IMO in combination with miked recordings. I also love the abillity to tweak the amps during the whole session.
I don't use them standalone but to thicken up miked stuff. I also had a POD, but prefer (the sound of) this particular amp/cabinet (and I can use 7 at the same time). Although the XT is -agian, IMO- good enough for stand-alone work.
Maybe oneday I'll buy seven of those.

Pretty curious about the upcoming native plugin of ampfarm btw
