Anathema for 1.99

I was at the CD Warehouse here in Jax the other day and was rummaging through their bargain bin and found Anathema's The Silent Enigma for 1.99.

Did I get a steal or what?

Never heard of them before except their name from this website as I am a big Opeth fan who participates in the Opeth forum.

I have listened to it once...I need to hear it a few more times before I can judge them.

I have to get used to his voice. Quite different. It is like he overacts at times in how he sings/speaks his lyrics.

The first song is cool, I like the repetitive chorus. The second song has those, what I call strange vox.

I have only listened to it a few times, so the jury is still out.

Did I say the first song was cool?

That's really the only album that Vincent sings like that. The following albums find his vocals much cleaner and controlled. The last three albums especially.

Great album, though. Love the pastoralism.

He must have watched some old Bela Lagosi movies and drank a few extra cups of cappachino when he went into the studio to record that album.

Seriously though, my jury is still out on these guys and

did I mention that I love that first track?

A Dying Wish is already a classic! (the song i mean) It's the oldest song they still play live too.

JCP, you did get a steal. I wish my CD Warehouse carried some decent metal. Luckily, there is a huge cd store that has lots of really good used/new metal. I only buy used stuff there b/c their new prices aren't nearly as good as The End's.
