Anathema so beautiful it makes me cry

I've noticed that some people actually are sometimes more 'real' when they drink (well, not too much u know). They speak more easily about their true feelings and stuff. Which is kinda sad.

And yes, it's easier to face the reality when being totally wasted  stone, how many hours left? ;)

It's true that people get more "loose" when they have some alcohol running in their veins. But getting drunk "to forget the sorrow" is a wrong thing to do. You don't solve them, only make it worse. And drinking to forget your worries makes you even think more about them and gets you down in melancholy.

Face problems the right way. I totally agree with my fellow Belgian dude Forlorn Hope there.

Of course, a beer every now and then is good fun. And more than one too. But getting so drunk that you don't remember what you did; or even worse: getting drunk and then go driving, I don't have any respect for those people at all.

"In all this world, why I do think
There are five reasons why we drink:
Good friends, good wine, lest we be dry
and any other reason why."

here and old gaelic poem about not drinking:

The Yellow Bittern

"Oh yellow bittern I grieve your dying
And your bones stretched out notwithstanding your humour
It isn’t want of food, but of the damned drink
That’s left you dead on your back
This is worse to me than the fall of Troy
You lying dead on the bare stones
You brought no hurt or harm to anyone
As you preferred wine to well water

It isn’t your birds there that I’m lamenting
The cuckoo, the corncrake or the dappled heron
It’s my yellow bittern, who was full of heart
And was like myself in style and color
He was forever drinking the draught
And it’s said that I am the same way
There isn’t a drop I could get that I wouldn’t swallow
For fear that I could die from thirst!

My love asked me to put down the drink
Or I wouldn’t be alive much longer
But I told her that she lied
And I’d live longer if I kept on drinking
Didn’t you all see the bird of the long gullet
Who died from thirst a little while ago?
So, my bosom friends, drown your thirst
As you won’t get a drop at all after you’re dead!"

using drink for ulterior motives like escaping reality instead of for the pure joy of getting pissed is blasphemy...its terrible to take advantage of the wonderous thing that is alchohol for such selfish reason :)

Phew.. after all this staying up late every night over a week now, I'm sure I'll pass out like 8pm if I drink anything with alcohol in it... :dopey:

But hey, you never know if you don't try. Gotta go home via Supermarket :D
