Post your ranking of the discography of any artist at all – either non-metal, or metal bands that don't have enough appeal to ever be ranked in the GMD section of the forum.
  • Include all of their main studio albums. This is an open-ended thread with no plans to tally anything, so if you've only heard 20 Saxon albums or 24 Melvins albums or 299 Buckethead albums, you have all the time in the world to go away and finish the job.
  • Optionally include any other releases as you wish - EPs, demos, splits, collaborations, live/archival/soundtrack/remix/covers albums etc.

Eg. here's my ranking of Budgie:

1. Never Turn Your Back on a Friend
2. Budgie
3. In for the Kill!
4. Bandolier
5. Squawk
6. If Swallowed, Do Not Induce Vomiting
7. Power Supply
8. Impeckable
9. Nightflight
10. If I Were Brittania I'd Waive the Rules
11. Deliver Us From Evil
12. You're All Living in Cuckooland

I'd still do bands like Skyclad, Armoured Saint, Helloween and Suicidal Angels, but 3 out of 4 of those would take a long time given the catalogues.

SPK
1. Leichenschrei
2. Information Overload Unit
3. Zamia Lehmanni: Songs of Byzantine Flowers (nice genre U-turn into ritual ambient)
4. Auto-da-fé (compilation)
5. Digitalis Ambigua, Gold and Poison
6. Machine Age Voodoo (but first they had to make this other genre U-turn into synthpop :puke:)

Flotsam and Jetsam might be one with enough appeal to be ranked in GMD eventually. I'd participate.

Looks like you've got Smooth Noodle Maps to append to the bottom or thereabouts. In the context of listening for ranking/rating on RYM I kinda get a kick out of listening to some of my fav bands' worst albums. I didn't manage to relisten to all of SPK's though, it's making me squirm.

Björk
1. Homogenic
2. Volta
3. Biophilia
4. Debut
5. Post
6. Björk (her pre-teen album, quite a lot more enjoyable than expected)
7. Medúlla
8. Vespertine
9. Vulnicura
10. Utopia

A bit fucked I know. "Why are you like this, Bloopy?" you'll ask. I just don't really 'do' softer music. I liked Vulnicura well enough when it first came out, but I guess at the time I enjoyed playing new material of any sort after having liked the previous two so much. Mouth Mantra has some cool beats though, a top 10 Björk song for me.

I suppose her childhood album would only ever count as a main studio album if you like it. I checked out the material once briefly many years ago and dismissed her kiddy voice singing in Icelandic, but I find it good fun now. It was good enough to get her an offer of another record deal at age 12, which she promptly turned down in favour of starting a punk band instead. Few artists can say they did that!
