You could see it as shock metal if there is such a thing. That would be a good way to describe. CC wouldn't be around if it wasn't for Alice Cooper, & Alice Cooper wouldn't be around if it wasn't for the person he was influenced by.

Death's lyrics might be interesting.. I've never looked into them so I don't know much what they're properly about.

Genres fights are stupid so I'm not going to get into it, but the fact that you even debated bands like Nightrage, Extol and Ulver tells me that you don't know what you're talking about.

Yeah, i should have thought about that. I was just misled by the way you phrased your original post. Most people who start threads like this are people who come across one band and then make rediculous assumptions about the rest of the genre. I reached the point of sheer pissed-off-ness. But as i look back through the thread, you know what you're talking about.

I have not heard much Canibal Corpse so I am not going to make assumptions and opinions without having heard them.
I second the original thread starters view on Death
Death has some of the best lyrics around and their music was soo good.
Some people claim that Chuck was hard to understand, but I have no trouble understanding what he says.
My second favorite Death Metal band is Nile
Their lyrics are all good. I promise if you listen to Cast Down the Heritic more than ten times, you will start to understand what he says. Nile is probly the best band to read along with in the booklet. Their syllable placement is unmatched.

Some of the besy metal lyrics have got to be Cradle, not only are they kick ass elizabethan style but are like serious comedy. Like this, "The breath of the store begins, By forcing its herod tongue in, The womb of the holy virgin,To taste of immaculate sin", and, "The countess fell to masturbating with Her dagger" and "Gilded Cunt", they're just fuckin awsome.
