Anyone using the Rectifier Recording Preamp?

I'm thinking about picking up either this or the dual rectifier head for studio use only. Either would be used without an actual cabinet. Any advice?

just bite the bullet and get the head... unless you have a decent tube poweramp...

I had a recto recording pre that I was attempting to use for direct recording with impulses. I can honestly say that it was likely the worst gear purchase that I've ever made. No matter what anyone tells you, this unit is horrible and completely useless for metal unless you are planning to pair it with with a power amp, cab and mics.

Save some cash and buy an Engl e530 if you want a hardware pre that sounds great for high gain tones.

Or keep your cash in the bank, and use TSE-X30...
