I started this poll,stemming from a topic at another forum..so don't think I'm wierd.

Just vote and offer an explanation if you like. There is no wrong answer so I am NOT looking for a debate.

I would say there's enough metal on the first two albums to say yes. And M-A says yes, which ends up counting for something.

Obviously they have songs which veer into a more metal sound, but they're a grunge band.

I'm sure people will agree that grunge is a dubious descriptor though. Black Sabbath gets lumped in with rock or classic rock often, even though it's near unanimous that they were always metal.

How would some of us feel Clash Of The Titans in 1991 would figure into all of this with Anthrax,Megadeth and Slayer.

They have a lot of metal influences in the music, and could almost be considered metal, but they aren't.

Still though, a kick ass band.

They're grunge rock. Their guitar tone and vocal style may sometimes remind us of metal, but they have more in common with the grooves, themes, and musical style of their peers (i.e. the grunge scene).

I say yes. Not just cuz I love the hell out of 'em, but they definitely have enough metal to them to be considered metal. Especially next to some of their peers at the time (STP, Pearl Jam, Nirvana...),none of which are metal. They're just really subdued next to a lot of metal bands, but that doesn't mean they aren't metal.
