Authentic Metalhead said:With keyboards you have a wide variety of sounds available to you, though a lot of metal keyboardists don't really use them, and Janne Warman from Children of Bodom never fails to impress with his keyboarding skills. Keyboards are often more interesting to me because the amount of keyboard-driven bands is significantly smaller than guitar-driven bands.
The Greys said:That's the entire probably. CoB's keyboard player plays his keys like a guitar player does in a rythmn/lead way.
If you listen to the keyboards in Amorphis they have a very seperate identity and a lot is done. Trying to metal or symphobic with keyboads is not the way to do it.
He's actually pretty easy to understand compared to most death vocalists.Razorhog said:Lyrics and Vocals are important to me. I agree with vacant_planets that sometimes you have to endure bad vocals to enjoy music. A lot of the time both music and lyrics make up for the fact that you can't understand a fucking thing the guy/gal is screaming. Opeth comes to mind. Hard to understand, but if you follow along with the lyrics, it will blow you away.
uhhhh.......the only "death metal" I hear in their music is the vocals.Authentic Metalhead said:Opeth is among the few death metal bands I would recommend to someone new to metal. And usually, death metal is a no-no for n00bs.
