Are vocals important to you? What about lyrics?

Get the fuck over it, way to take something seriously that wasn't meant as such.

I'm sorry but the guy made a dumbass comment, how am I to know if he was being serious or not?

With keyboards you have a wide variety of sounds available to you, though a lot of metal keyboardists don't really use them, and Janne Warman from Children of Bodom never fails to impress with his keyboarding skills. Keyboards are often more interesting to me because the amount of keyboard-driven bands is significantly smaller than guitar-driven bands.

That's the entire probably. CoB's keyboard player plays his keys like a guitar player does in a rythmn/lead way.

If you listen to the keyboards in Amorphis they have a very seperate identity and a lot is done. Trying to metal or symphobic with keyboads is not the way to do it.

Vocals and lyrics are very important to me....I like to be able to relate AND understand to...but I also enjoy some good riffs in there... :D

Lyrics are not important to me really. Vocals are though, things like death metal force me to listen to terrible vocals to listen to the good music.

Lyrics and Vocals are important to me. I agree with vacant_planets that sometimes you have to endure bad vocals to enjoy music. A lot of the time both music and lyrics make up for the fact that you can't understand a fucking thing the guy/gal is screaming. Opeth comes to mind. Hard to understand, but if you follow along with the lyrics, it will blow you away.

He's actually pretty easy to understand compared to most death vocalists.

Opeth is among the few death metal bands I would recommend to someone new to metal. And usually, death metal is a no-no for n00bs.
uhhhh.......the only "death metal" I hear in their music is the vocals.

I don't even hear it in they're vocals.

i'd like n Opeth fan to explain exacly what it is to like about they're music as a Death Metal fan. because i don't see it.
