are you dead yet thoughts

Are You Dead Yet? is unquestionably Children Of Bodom's most simplistic album. Remember people, opinions are subjective and no one has to agree with your opinion, but there is no definate opinion that is correct.

As for the Follow The Reaper comparison, yes, there are similarities. For example there are many implied or played harmonies or melodies that have a very FTR feel.

For example:

1. In "Living Dead Beat" there is an ascending diminished scale harmony between the guitar and keyboard that is similar to diminished melodies on FTR.

2. The pre-chorus harmony of Are You Dead Yet? has many similarities to the harmonies of FTR.

3. Next In Line's chorus is very similar to Northern Comfort and even Hate Me

4. Alexi uses distorted or layered "demon" vocals on Punch Me I Bleed and the final word of Trashed, Lost & Strungout, which were commonly used on FTR.

this album fucking sucks men, cob is going throght another way more like metal core (el metal de los gringos culiaos mamones).

FINALLY! I have found people that feel the same way I do! (The new Children of Bodom is a real disappointment.) Everytime I tried to tell someone that they just said I was "untrue" or not "metal enough"

There are no musical technicalities in this CD at all! I never once stopped the cd, and rewinded it just so I could hear one spectacular part over and over (which I did the previous four albums.) For this one I couldn't wait for it to be over. And whoever said that they didn't want to say they were "selling out" I'll do it for them:hotjump: They are selling out. Janne should leave the band and concentrait on his side project to save his reputation.

(The first four releases however, don't get me wrong. Golden. This new stuff, fucking garbage.)

And if you use Last.Fm (also known as Audioscrobbler) and feel the same way as me. Than join this group made just for this purpose.

Living Dead Beat is simply superb
Are You Dead Yet? is brutal and must be great live
In Your Face is the soul of this album
Trashed, Lost & Strungout should've been rerecorded heavier
If You Want Peace was a big disappointment
Punch Me I Bleed has nothing to it really
Next in Line is, well, nice
Bastards of Bodom is comical
We're Not Gonna Fall is even more comical

Everybody here thinks that way, except I..
Just imagine Follow the Reaper being recorded on low tune.

:headbang: I agree, it is a good album, not the best album but it is still wicked :headbang: if you dont like it bitching on the fourm again and again walking around in circles is not going to make it any beter, when you see bodom live are you going to care if they play a song from the new album?

I dont get it.

You guys sit here and rip the shit out of what is a great album just because its not Hatebreeder part 2. YOU will NEVER get hatebreeder part 2 so stop your bitching about it! I have been a fan since 98 after i stumbled upon Something Wild in a used cd store. I accept what they have done in the past and what they are doing now with this new album.

Maybe the music is more simplistic, but its still well written (at least i think it is). Its for shure much better than the tracks that soilwork or in flames have gone down in recent years (you guys have to admit that). Its not nu metal like the afroementioned bands have done recently.

dude dont even bother arguing with people it is of no use, once they make their mind up they stick with it, take it to the extreme, take a picture of their ass and post it

Honestly, I like the new album. I don't love it like I love Hatebreeder, Follow The Reaper, and Hate Crew Deathroll, but I like it as much as I like Something Wild. It's just a new direction. I can see why a lot of people don't like it, but hell, agree to disagree, eh?

Can't fucking wait to see them this December...

Damn, this album is good. i didnt lke it at first, but it grew on me with a few listens. Although their are more chugging riffs (that you guys seem to HATE), the talent is still their. There are great harmoized solos, and some really good songs.

Just sit back and listen to the music. Dont be so judgemental. Thats the problem with the metal crowd, too many damn elitists. It may have some hardcore influences, but so what? At least Bodom makes it sound good.

Ok....would everyone stop jumping to silly reasons as to why folks on the board don't like the album. Give us some credit and don't assume we dislike it for dumbass superficial reasons.
