Why not make a thread for everyone to post self-made music on, but only if it is in the style of Opeth (long songs, progressive, heavy etc...)
It'll be interesting to see how much inspiration Opeth has given to many of us musicians. Of course the ultimate would be Mikael listening to our music and giving us tips but I guess that's just me believing in fairy tales :p

Myself I've only been playing guitar for 1 year so I don't have a lot of music making experience at all, although I've tried to make some music anyhow.
I use a Jackson Warrior and Riffworks Rifftracker to record my guitar and put drums on the sound. To simulate bass-like things and synth weird noises I just change the tone settings in Riffworks.

Here are 2 songs I've posted on the Riffworks site, to play em just click the play button of the player present on the page.
They're instrumentals ( I'm working on my death growl :p ) with slow soft intros but heavier pieces in between and also some atmospheric parts built in.
