Attention hiking/outdoorsful types

For the kind of hiking you are doing, you really don't need to go out and spend $200 on expensive trekking boots. Get yourself some comfortable low top trail or trail/running shoes. Some good brands out there: Merrell, Patagonia, La Sportiva, etc.

hey, ya know, im not trying to say that everywhere besides the west coast sucks or anything. ya know, not in a mean way at least.

It's subjective. This is what I grew up around, and to me places like this have a beauty of depth. No, it's not the most gorgeous place on earth. But it doesn't have to be.

I getcha. I get quick fixes here in the New England region because I must, but after two months I will be graduating and will have no more binding ties to this region. However, there came a point (pretty quickly actually) when the hiking around here began to take on monotonous tones. Now I'm tired of the characteristic Appalachian rocks, whereas a newcomer and someone who truly loves the region could walk on them his or her entire life. Yes, it's all relative and subjective. But for me, the truly elevating hiking lies, not ironically, in the elevations.

I have a pair of light, $60 Columbia hiking shoes. Couple those with some medium cushion hiking socks and it's great and not a lot of money.

I want those! They remind me of a pair of sandals I had as a youth (though they were actualy adult sandals). They looked like regular Teva-type sandals, but the bottoms of the soles were textured to look like bare feet. So, whenever I walked through a puddle, I'd leave bare feet prints behind. Teehee.

I'm very particular to a highback, well toe-gripping boot. I have a pair of McKinley's with a vibram sole.

(Mine are beige)

These work absolutely wonderful for all around. Most of my treks are a bit steeper than most, but I'm also surrounded by actual mountains.
