I for one am for off topic stuff because it builds community. It can be successful and decent. You guys can't let the few ruin it for everyone. I had two messages about what was going on in here, one from Moonlapse and another. If you guys report this stuff as soon as it starts happening it is much easier to, as Barney Fife would say, nip it in the bud. Anyways 3 people were banned from here and if you guys have any more trouble simply message me or Moonlapse, or both. Later!
 
hey guys, i feel left out because i seem to have missed most of these threads. Decadent PMd me about it the other night but when i got his message the next morning, most of the offending threads were gone. i *did* read breaklose's MoP thread and i thought i did a good job of telling him/her to fuck off. but with the other stuff, i havent really been much help.
regarding moonlapse: he does a great job i think. there was a reason those threads were gone when i logged on. he deleted them. glad to see metal ages banning people though. good riddance.

What were people insulting Opeth, I swear every Opeth board I've been to, or any metal board where you mention Opeth, you get fucking trashed by some asshole who's totally screwed and egocentric on his idea of metal...

Well I'm speculating thats what happened so I say thank you!...

Not what happened, but get used to it. Some people make good points against Opeth, particularly the meandering style (though nothing compared to other bands), and the blind devotion of the fanbase (OMG OPEFH AM TEH ROX0RZ PLS MARRY ME MIKEALE!!11!). Those of us who enjoy the band will be labeled far and wide, but mostly by pre-pubescent gr1mster tr00bies, so don't be phased.
 
definitely too many trolls around these parts lately...good to hear something's being done about it. i do seem to have missed a couple of the offending threads, but what i have seen has been enough :yuk:
 
I think allowing off topic a is a good thing. As long as the post contains some useful or interesting information.I dont post often but have been visiting regularly since becoming a member.I usually find some good things to read even if it is not pertain directly to Opeth.

And the photos are hilarious...you guys are geniuses!

Censorship really is a very bad thing...but it is hard to draw a line through all the grey area.

It is disturbing though to see people writing trash about musicians...its much easier to say nothing at all. If you dont like something dont read it or listen to it.It doesnt get much simpler.

The spreading of the negative thing is truly evil.

I posted a thread about this on SOT2 and there were a few who agreed that
there was way too many bullshit threads. I haven't posted here on the Opeth
board in a while strictly because of the way the first page looked. We seem to go from one extreme to another. Can't there be some sort of middle ground?
 
^i think we regular posters do a good job notifying ermin and metal ages. it can get annoying but it's really not that bad - maybe for only a couple days...then moonlapse comes off his bender and starts deleting people. ;)
seriously, its not like we have to post on those threads. just let metal ages know and he will destroy them.
 
Yeah more or less. Admittedly though I don't think there's too much we can do with the newbies and them recreating the same thread over and over. Just keep slapping them silly until they finally get the FAQ is there for a reason :)

I think we've proven though that this place CAN be good given we're all willing to contribute to the community. Once the trolls were more or less ironed out for a few months this place went pretty smoothly uphill again.
 
Hey, well I am here to admit that I am responsible for the Tripp Esien thread, I am new here, I had a few drinks and thought everyone would get a kick out of it, then realised how wrong I was after I posted it. I am sincerely sorry, I hereby swear off posting anymore bullshit here ever again, I have learned my lesson. I also kicked myself in the ass.
