House Of Lords are awesome man , the Roxx Gang song for me was a bit on the nose , Lee Aaron was cool and Treat had so many awesome tracks , Danger Danger's "under the gun " was great , in fact I might dig it up and give the old vinyl of it a spin :)

Ah I was hoping you'd pop into this thread, Trent! You've recommended a lot in the past, but I never had my own PC till recently.

A couple I just thought of. These are two of the catchiest songs I've ever heard, and have had repeated plays by me:

Shelter - Here We Go
Sonata Arctica - San Sebastian

^ San Sebastian is awesome, but they have much catchier songs!

SA's catchiest songs:

Kingdom for a Heart
Full Moon
Last Drop Falls
The Cage

hell, they're all catchy. They're just four awesome ones for the thread.

last drop falls isn't catchy in a good way.. hehehe

while i'm here

Blind Guardian - And Then There Was Silence

Vanishing Point - Season of Sundays

Amon Amarth - Victorious March

Hey Chris :)

Yeah Under The Gun is a killer song! That Danger Danger debut is prob top 10 of all time for me... there are 8 tracks out of the 11 on that album that I rate SO highly, it's one of a kind for me.

Roxx Gang definitely aren't for everyone, I love that debut though (well half of it anyway), love the dark edge it has to the sleaze. No Easy Way Out is my favourite track on it because I love the guitar melodies... but I love Scratch My Back (especially the video), Live Fast Die Young, Red Rose, Nine Lives...

Treat are one of my favourite bands! I love the later stuff when they got the Swedish Erotica singer too, Better Off Without Your Love and You Won't See Me Cryin are probably my 2 favourite Treat songs actually.

VENOM!!!

I have a classic (and embarrasing - for the culprits, that is) story.

There is a currently active band from Melbourne that claim to be total old school heavy metal maniacs (despite being below 20 probably), yet they named themselves 'Venom' - until someone obviously informed them that there was already a band called Venom twenty bloody years ago.

How someone could label themselves a heavy metal maniac and be oblivious to the legends that are Venom is beyond me. Clearly they never had any heavy metal background before embarking on their new found phase (a passing one, no doubt).

That story reminds me of the band that used to go around here named "Mayhem".... they must have got sick of people telling them there was already a black metal band from Norway using that name so they decided to change it to... wait for it....

Mayhem of Oz

I shit you not!

Ceydn - also The End of this Chapter, and Don't Say a Word off the new album.

Wooooo Sonata.

I also really liked Pulled Under at 2000 metres a Second off A Natural Disaster (Anathema) when I first heard it. And it's a bit old but My Dying Bride have some rad songs, She is the Dark is pretty cool, if a bit goff. You may well have heard both of those though. If it's catchy stuff you're after then maybe not haha. Just stick with Sonata.

I haven't heard a lot of Cathedral but 2 songs I really like from them are Violent Vortex/Ride and Midnight Mountain off The Ethereal Mirror. CAN YA FEEL THE GROOOOVE.

KMFDM have some catchy stuff too, if you want something a bit different. I don't know if they are a bit too goth club for you :)

That IS funny.

I would rather recommend:

Blind Guardian - Time What Is Time

and

Amon Amarth - Death In Fire

I'd go:

Blind Guardian - Journey through the Dark

and

Amon Amarth - Bastards of a Lying Breed

I'm willing to check out anything. If I end up liking it then great, and if I don't then I haven't really lost owt.

I've got a My Dying Bride CD somewhere, but have only listened to it once. Should try to find it. :)
