Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, incase you don't know.

so what do you think of the scenes going on in these countries?

so far, i'm lovin' Heresiarh, Skyforger and Whispering Forest. (three very different bands.)

Estonia seems to have the biggest scene. is that true?

i'm planning on visiting Estonia some soon time (spring next year or early summer would be fine).
i started a thread about estonia on the "Chat"-forum in "The Life"-section - so, if someone has some good info about the country and also metal scene, please write there. or here. or me.
:)

i mean individual info, not the tourist info you get from the web ;)
i'll keep on searching some useful info too :)

Good page. I agree, it looks like all eesti bands.

I would go in the summer. Folk festivals in this area actually have metal bands. Metal bands tap into their roots in the eastern Baltic better than most. It's, in a major way, a reaction to soviet opression. They're very proud of their heritage. It's often misunderstood.

They've also got some of the best symphonic and chamber music in the world.

Here are the sites to a few eesti black metal bands which I'm enjoying.

I am not attaching labels nor opinions. This is just the order in which I found the bands. The genre only counts for the band direcly beneith it. When there is a genre mentioned, I didn't come up with it.

So, I found the sites of a few estonian bands.

Aslo, from Lithuania comes a band called Elis. I can't seem to find the link at the moment. I may have found them at mp3.com. They're heavy and gothic. The band is ok, I guess. The female vocals fucking rule.

Cool! Thanks for posting. Can you correct any of my bullshit? What do you think is the best festival in Estonia? What are some others worth mentioning? You get a fair share of bands from Finland there, right? Do your bands play many shows in Finland?

I love what I've heard from Loits. Have you seen them live? If so, how was it?

Hi, I'm bassist from Ecthalion. I would suggest Kantor Voy (ex- Carnifex) and Echosilence from Estonia and definately Negected Fields from Latvia. :)
and thanks for having interest in Baltic's metal scene :)
Our band, Ecthalion, is going to the studio in the summer, so keep checking out our site!!!
