Bands/albums you used to dig, but nowadays feel kinda meh about

they're distinctly b-tier

i kinda-sorta liked "angels of distress" but even back then it felt a bit cookie cutter

i also have "shades of..." because i liked the cover but i barely remember anything about it. no matter how you slice it they're just not that great when put up against skepticism, etc

I still find Angels of Distress satisfying, it does its thing right, couldn't care less about the subsequent releases, or any of the "light" funeral doom acts that came in their wake. Interestingly Russia spawned a ton of those. Speaking of Skepticism, Profetus is a decent alternative.

But yeah, in the end, hail Thergothon.

Funeral doom. Although not so long ago I re-listened to Skepticism and genuinely enjoyed it.

All the boo-hoo depressive suicidal black metal I used to like when I was 20 and think that this and emo had nothing in common.

Pagan folk ns whatever like Temnozor' with horrible melodic vocals and little sad violins.

Gotta say though that sometimes it's nice to listen to an old band that doesn't do it for you anymore but kinda brings good old memories and associations, but it has nothing to do with music ofc.

Manilla Road

Cant listen to this band anymore. I sometimes wonder what I ever heard. They got some good songs but few awesome albums.

Man, I tried. I can't do it anymore. May unload some of these to someone who'll spin em.

And while they aren't an old band, I've bought Khemmis' 3 albums upon release. My ears must have been broken. Fucking Mastodon gone doom in a shit way
