Seems that the hot topic these last few days is whether this band is good or this band sucks bla bla bla..... Since we can't all agree with each other, I'd like to see what bands you dislike (or maybe hate?) but also provide (since we are all mature intellectuals-hahaha-) a reason or more for that!:)

i might be hugely blinded from the metal attitude, but i cant think any band that provokes me hatred or total dislike and all...apart from some black ones that doesnt say much to my aesthetics, but still i would not throw them down the drain :)
eg. first time hearing pain of salvation i thought they sucked big, but after a while they seemd interesting at least.
oh and some progressive projects are total crap(IMHO)dont want to hurt anyone specific:p
and last, most of american bands just leave me with a bittersweet taste, dunno why.i prefer the europeans better
oh,and some power bands are mellow(you know who you are)...
hm,there seem to be a lot sucking eventually!

BTW, have you heard about Opeth on the 6 December on thessaloniki? i think its quite sure...:hotjump: :yow:

Cradle of Filth.

Why?! Because they always steal the musicians from my favourite bands and ruin them. They took Martin from My Dying Bride, Adrian from At The Gates/The Haunted, Gian from Solstice, Dave and Les from Anathema. I was so glad that Les came back after they brainwashed him...

they did it for money, man - money issue always ruin the real music!!

Well to me the whole 'nu-metal' -genre doesn't suck in general. I mean, what do you define as nu-metal? System of a Down? Like 'em. Bunch of great weirdos. Deftones? Definately! umm.. lots of decent stuff has come out of that genre, actually. Most of it are like action movies, just don't expect too much out of 'em and you'll be entertained... :)

I've been gettin a few so-called nu-metal albums for past 6 years. Mostly just because I get good-vibes  from 'em. And I don't mean anything like Linkin Park etc. From time to time it's great to put some Mindset (the first album) or Lost Prophets (couple of very good songs) blasting in the walkman when going to work... Pumps me up, so to say :D

Then what do I hate? Well those middleroad grunge-heavy-ballad stuff that has come out recently for sure. I mean, what's the deal with (uhh.. name escapes my head) you know the band: the curly-haired guy singing pathetic hard-rock -songs. Why is it so popular suddenly? The songs are boring and mind-numbing and that same stuff has been made (but better) for ages. Why now, why that band? They truly don't deserve the hype, well atleast not from the stuff I've heard...

But most of the time I don't really have the time and energy to hate bands I don't like. I just don't listen to 'em.

Exactly. I hate nothing I don't hear.

eh, I wasn't dead serious with that my hatred-list.. so no, I don't hate a whole genre(s) itself, just some rough generalizing I made.. about nu, yes there're good bands (really hard to define what's what.. when, where why who which waaaah, yes..) Linkin Park is no good. Let's say if it's on some playlist top 10 on radio/mtv/other shithole, it sucks. Not always, but often.

Ah, my rant wasn't actually aimed at you :saint: Your list just worked as a catalyst of some sort for my ideas to explode on to the keyboard.

I just sometimes get so pissed off when roaming even in here UM reading posts in General Discussion etc, where people slay for example Slipknot without any good reasons expect that they are popular now and that's why they must be this evil nu-metal that every proud true-metalhead has to hate. <-- is that long sentence even right grammatically (is this a word?) :D

and yes, a music with no message sucks. there's too much shite with these genius 'songwriters' wheeping some baby-ooh-ooh-gonna-love-you-ooh-ooh-always-forever-everafter-baby-ooooohh

Yes. I hate that too. But as long as songs lyrics aren't that infantile, I can live with it not having a deepest of all deep stuff lyrics. You know? It also just doesn't sound right if someones preaching about stuff he/she's not familiar with, just for the sake of it.

eh..? think i kinda dropped out, did i..

slipknot's not that bad at all..i was surprised when hearing *title of album?* (iowa?), it sounds like they're having some ATTITUDE!! :D people=shit..

But what makes me really mad, is that new girl duo, t.a.t.u., you know that one? It's not the song that brings out the berserk in me - it's actually quite a decent song compared to all the other crap keeps playing on the radio - but their marketing plot. You see, the first thing they did when releasing the single was to let us know that these two girls were in fact *hold your breath* lesbians  So freaking what? Ok, then they might be lesbians, why shout about it?

But the worst of all is the video  now I don't wanna sound like racist or anything, but it looks like some big shot in Russia has been watching great american music videos and decides to gather a team to shoot a video for these two rad-funky-lesbian -girls. It doesn't matter if the director/editor haven't been doing anything music video-related stuff before, it's all just quick cuts anyway. Wrong. The video is total crap in the way that the cuts just doesn't work and the whole editing in total is, well, amateurish. Well what about the sensational lesbian-relationship? Bollocks. The girls just merely rub their cheeks together looking like they pretend to be kissing... So why bother? Maybe in the eighties this would've been a big deal... They might've just gained even some credibility by not making a big fuss about those girls habit of wearing a strap-on..

phew.. rant off.

I think I confused even myself

But yes, Slipknot is plain fun. To get your adrenaline pumping, you know. The gig in Helsinki was really great :headbang: It's just that their lyrics get quite repetitive after awhile but in small doses it's good simple headbanging...

Yep. actually there's some (many?) songs, which 'lyrics' i've made in my mind, or dunno a thing/word what's it exactly telling about. or then I've misunderstood the words.. and still this song may have some 'message' to me, and the mood I got of it just fits somehow.. (you know what i mean??) ok, then I've found this song's lyrics and eagerly read 'em.. and thrown away. the lyrics i mean. cos it's telling of sth completely different i've thought.. and when already having my OWN version the feeling with, i rather keep it. :)

I know exactly. Actually sometimes it's quite hard for me to make something whole from english lyrics if I just listen to 'em and not see the words, somehow. And ofcourse there are times when you just can't make anything out what the vocalist is saying. Like with Front Line Assembly, they have a few so weak lyrics, it's better not to read 'em and just make up your own version from stuff you're able to hear
