I'm giving Ghost a better college try, never disliked them but never made the effort either and I'm enjoying myself. They have this series of shorts about the 'character(s)' which I've been digging, and I've always been a fan of that kind of thing.

So drop your story driven / RPGing bands.

Gwar obviously comes to mind. Everyone knows their story.

Ayreon also, which I assume everyone knows.

KISS I guess!

Looking for more than just one-off concept albums here.

A while ago I had a similar question about concept albums so I just did a google search which ended up at a wiki page showing a huge list of concept albums, who did them and what they were about. It wasn't genre specific but it was fairly extensive and gave me the information I needed at the time.

Ghost is heavy hard rock for people who think they like metal. Really getting tired of them being mentioned by so many casuals today.

You're a meme of a trope of a dude who didn't get his mountain dew today.

Yeah I wanted to do that but I'm not just looking for concept albums. I tried a couple search terms, no such luck. Basically looking for bands where everyone has a character and a backstory.

I guess Pantera's narrative was they all kept on getting more & more fucked up on booze/drugs as they went on.
