When they came out, and I was a young chicken, they were the SHIT.
I still love them for what they were and Dimbag for being the man and the mucisian he was.
I guess its hard to understand that if you were born after they broke up
or maybe after the time when we all got so excited from their albums....
and looking back you say: "wtf, whats so special about them"
Its like someone at my school said: "How can you love Reign In Blood? all the solos sound the same"
well, thats true, but how can you NOT like one of the most brillaint albums in the metal history???
Always think about the time that a band came out.. and what was there back then....
Some people think Metallica are overrrated.... they must be out of their mind
and obviously never been a metal head when their first albums came out
and caused a STORM in the metal plannet.
Its like saying John Pollock is overrrated just because everyone can sprinkle paint on a canvas...
but back then my friends.... back then and still to this day, its a master piece of art at its best.

What bothers me is that no one views things in perspective for their time. Hendrix, Sabbath, AC/DC, Kiss not to mention all the other bands people here say "suck". This is music that came out, shook things up and influenced all else to come. There's not a true metal fan or musician who can say they haven't listened to those bands at some point. All the young fans have no appreciation for anything that came before their virgin ears first heard a distorted guitar with a drop D tuning. It's a shame because they're missing out on a world of great music. I'm not a great fan of a lot of those bands either, but I appreciate the ground they broke and the role they played in forming metal music and guitar playing today.
"Suck" implies an inability or an ineptness..."dislike" or even "fucking hate" is more appropriate. I think many of these threaders are showing a very shallow approach to listening.

I have never listened to Hendrix, Kiss or AC/DC. Many of those so-called "canon" bands are not considered canon by everyone.

As far as my claims of bands sucking, ehh.... well if Hendrix kicked ass back in his time... then his time fucking sucked!
People have grown acustomed to saying "sucks" instead of "I dont like" its shorter to say "Rod Stewart fucking sucks" than to say "Id rather listen to the sounds of a dentist's office than to listen to rod stewart's music"
Even then, most people will add adjectives like "his shitty music" in there. It's all oppinion based. And we are all simple minded. If someone tells me "Hey Mike, Nine Inch Nails fucking sucks, they are all gay and have butt sex with each other, their music sounds like decaying shit" I'll repond in one way or another, but when i brake it all down, all they said to me was "I dont like Nine Inch Nails." I know they dont "suck."
It's all in the way someone says it, its all oppinions, so it should be bothering anyone anyway. :Spin:
