Best Albums of 2004 (so far)

Paatos - Kallocain
Fall Of The Leafe - Volvere
Helangar - Evening In Valhalla (Allthough it was released in 2003, i got it early 2004, and it's amazing)
Flowing Tears - Razorbliss

and of course the incredible Blind Guardian DVD

Oh I forgot Marillions masterpiece "Marbles"; what an amazing album, what an amazing concert, what amazing vocals. If someone can compete with Jonas' expressing emotions by singing, then it's "H". Steve "H" Hogarth

Blackdoor miracle is the name of the new Ragnarok. I really like their old stuff, I have not heard this cd yet. Maybe I will buy it on your recommendation.

I'm not into their old stuff but they sound raw and I still feel the melody. I would recommend it :headbang:

1-Mar de Grises-the tatterdemalion express
2-Paatos- Kallocain
3-My Dying Bride-Songs of Darkness, Words of Light
4-Mùm-Summer make good
4-Blut aus Nord-The Work Which Transforms God

And probably another ten that I'll discover only in the years to come....

How is the new Paatos album? I'm hearing some samples and it sounds really interesting...I saw there's also a DVD, someone can tell me more about it? Is the DVD worth to buy? I can't find many info on their official site unfortunately....

The Great Deceiver - Terra Incognito
All That Remains - This Darkened Heart
Dark Tranquillity - Exposures: In Retrospect & Denial
Neurosis - The Eye of Every Storm
Unearth - The Oncoming Storm

Ive been racking my brain to think of a decent alblum that was released this year and since Blut Aus Nord was actually not released this year I would have to say that the only other thing that has truly impressed me is Subterreanean Masquerades ep -Temporary Psychotic state- Check it out. I finally met Tomer and Jake at the Katatonia show in june and got my copy signed, they are really cool guys too. Paul from Nov. Doom doing vocals. The bassplayer from Agalloch. They will be releasing their full length cd soon. I seriously recommend it. Oddly enough they have alot of violin in it, which is something I find incredibly rare. The REAL violin is mixed perfectly and compliments the music instead of taking away from it like the usual violin parts you hear in some bands (usually keyboard shit).

How can anyone say 2004 has been bad?

Neurosis - The Eye of Every Storm
Borknagar - Epic
The Stills - Logic will Break Your Heart
The Faint - Wet From Birth
Wilco - A Ghost is Born
tDEP - Miss Machine
Into Eternity - Buried in Oblivion (possibly my favorite so far)
The New Year - The End is Near
Arsis - Celebration of Guilt
Kataklysm - Serenity in Fire
Vehemence - Helping the World to See
Unearth - The Oncoming Storm

It's been a great year so far IMO

In no particular order:

Ayreon-The Human Equation
The Dillinger Escape Plan-Miss Machine
TOC-Loss Angeles
Paatos-Kallocain
Evergrey-The Inner Circle
Megadeth-The System Has Failed
Disillusion-Back To The Times Of Splendor
Orphaned Land-Mabool
Farmer Boys-The Other Side
Before The Dawn-4.17 AM
Disarmonia Mundi-Fragments of D-Generation
Textures-Polars
In Flames-Soundtrack To Your Escape
Blackfield
Into Eternity-Buried in Oblivion (although I think it was last year)

that's all that come to mind atm

Waiting for anxiously ----

Dead Soul Tribe-The January Tree
Tea Party-The Seven Circles
Pain Of Salvation-Be
Porcupine Tree- ??

of what i've heard, these are the best 3 IMO:
Anata - under a stone with no inscription
Vehemnece - helping the world to see
Today is the Day - kiss the pig

MDB is close, though.

Unfortunately the only 2004 release I've gotten is MDB' 'Songs of darkness' , so I guess it is the best.

mayhem - chimera is in the mail though so at least there is a challenger. :p
