Best gore/horror film you've seen

I just want to say my wife says you're all a bunch of pussies! Hahahah

She watched A Serbian Film last night while I was at work and well... it just didn't do nothing to her, in fact she said it was a really good movie, good plot, but the gore isn't really that shocking. I think she's just fucked up because of this Venezuelan website she used to check every day with some really REALLY crude shit, and totally real. She even had nightmares with that website and became addicted to it as far as having to stay completely away from it. Since then movies do nothing to her. Maybe I shouldn't post a link to that site......

Anyways, I will watch a Serbian film one of these days, and the antichrist

lol, no it's not venezuelan, I just havent been on that site since I was like 11.
EBM.com whatever its called? with peoeple cutting their own balls off with cheese wire, and babies getting beaten up and shit?
I went to boarding school, and there were these 2 kids that were obsessed with it for a couple of weeks.

that's fucked up. don't know what that site is though

Haha I was just taking the piss, I was meaning all these sites are horrific since they contain real images, how another site may be "worse" than others dosen't bear thinking about.

I believe the original isn't Austrian but Australian am I right? I only saw the US version, at first I was like "what piece of crap did I just watch" and then I slowly went "wait a second that was pretty cool after all"

No, no it´s actually Austrian. And imo the original is a lot better than the US remake. The Austrian dialect sounds so cynic, and those two bastards are the epitome of cynicsm. What a sick movie!! Moviemakers also broke a certain codex..you know what I mean? They fuckin´killed the child and then the reaction of the parents....just silence. Fuck!

Ok I'm gonna look into the original one then, originals are ALWAYS better than the Hollywood versions haha

The only reason why I like the remakes a weee bit better (since its basically the same exact movie shot for shot) is Tim Roth's acting is killer. I do admit the original language of the film lends itself to a very "matter of fact" type of delivery. But, as far as the emotional tears and weight of the situation presented, I think Roth and Naomi Watts brought upped it a notch. That said, both versions are good.

Forgive me for sounding painfully square and out-of-place in this thread, but I honestly don't know how you guys can enjoy watching these movies; I've been reading the wikipedia plot summaries for a bunch of them as they've been mentioned here, and I dunno, I'm all too aware of what human beings are capable of, but I don't exactly enjoy dwelling on it or being reminded of it.

I think it's especially the ones involving innocent people, especially happy families, that really get to me; I mean, reading the summary of that "Funny Games" movie, those scumbags beating a dog to death with golf clubs, and then torturing and killing the family; are these movies made by people who had horrible upbringings by unloving/absent/abusive parents, and this is simply their way of acting out their jealousy and hatred towards happy, well-adjusted people? I dunno, the graphic nature of these movies wouldn't be so hard for me to stomach if so much of it wasn't well within the realms of possibility, this is not a side of humanity I want to energize and be reminded of.

And to those who might say "it's important we be reminded humanity is capable of this", or the filmmakers who claim that or something similar as the "message" of the film, I'm sorry, but I can't buy that when it comes to the majority of movies that've been mentioned here; what possible purpose is served? I highly doubt it's gonna enact some great social change, or raise public awareness about home invasions or psychopaths; graphic violence in war movies at least serves a purpose; here it seems just intentionly designed to be as sick and twisted as possible, and I just can't understand how some people could find that appealing.

I think it's quite interesting how some of these movies you've mentioned seem to be underground for there extreme violence/shock elements yet still they feature well known and respected actors/directors.
