Best In Flames Vocal Lines....

"The Machinery outlives the futile scripts
of our dying jester race"
AWESOME vocal line....
then the greatest in flames solo, beautiful solo

Dude I forgot..

"Each day I crawl to the heart of the Silence" or as the booklet says "to the hall of the giants" but I'd like to believe it's wrong.

Brutal lows and great line.

"With each and every attribute
of animal, machine and man"

-Jester Script Transfigured

It's not really the words that are so interesting, but just the overall delivery and the atmosphere of the song that make this part stand out to me.

I'm focusing on the part, the way its sung, and the way it sounds, and how epic it sounds, not the lyrics cause I never thought Anders went out of his way to make the 'good parts' any more lyrically good than the non-stick-out parts.

Chosen Pessimist:
Come faith I'm dying

Disconnected:
I feel like shit. (And the whole chorus repeat of the last chorus, when he sings it a bit slower)

Delight and Angers:
The whole part that starts with 'Chasing Leftovers'

Drenched In Fear:
Whenever he says "hope drenced in fear"

Metaphor:
Let me in, I'll bury the pain

Evil In A Closet:
You're presence kept me floating, far from depths where secrets lie.

....

Basically, Sense Of Purpose amazed me with how many times I loved the way Anders sung some of the lyrics. Wether it was because of the vocal producer, or his vocal writing just got better, I think it was finally the step In Flames needed to get that 'emotional' feeling into their music that really made their new sound 'good'.

Yeah, the mumbly thing he used to do under the screamed vocals. Screamed alone is still more intense than anything on ASOP.

I'm pretty partial to the ending of the bridge (I guess thats what you would call it?) in the Quiet place, right after Anders is done trying to sing and starts to scream "a king in my own mind", about 3 minutes in or so.

Swim, as a whole, is one of his best vocal performances I think, especially the first verse

I m going to have to say anything off of jester race.

To each his own I guess, but I tend to think TJR is a bit overrated as far as vocal quality goes. Anders does have some good moments, like December Flower or the chorus in The Jester race. For me, this album was more a showcase of their (more-so Jesper) songwriting ability as a whole. Anders has said himself that the In Flames sound wasn't really achieved until they recorded Colony, and to me thats when his vocal delivery starts to stand out (over the next couple albums at least).

That's why I called it modern In Flames, cause it sounds like they reached their sound, but they pushed even farther after clayman, and now they call it New In Flames.
