Trust me, if either of them were actually Thrash Metal, they would've been at the top of my list.

Have you never heard Traditional Heavy Metal or something? Mercyful was just a highly unique, creative, bouncy sounding Traditional Metal band and King Diamond was pure Heavy Metal with a bit of Neoclassical guitar influence from Andy LaRocque. They honestly have nothing to do with Thrash. Listen to them, and then listen to the rest of the albums on your list. If you can't tell why they're not Thrash after doing that, then you have a problem.

ive never heard anyone call mercyful fate thrash metal before. i think if you listened to show no mercy by way of comparison (a very NWOBHM influenced thrash album) you'd most distinctly hear the key differences.
