I think I agree with you in this post. I agree bout what you said bout Katatonia and I think that's the reason why I usually prefer the older stuff.
About Opeth... I agree as well, though I honestly haven't heard Ghost Reveries yet and I don't know if I will... It's like I lost the interest I used to have for them for some reason.

Yeah. It's probably mostly about personal genre preference methinks. Opeth has been pretty much the same with me Used to love 'em around 2002-2003 but during the latest couple of years the interest faded
