Best year for metal?

I'd honestly have to say '88. Have a look at all the classic 80's metal bands, most of them have some of their better albums released in '88. It was a huge year.

What would you say? (Give reasons and albums if possible)

as far as death metal goes '91 is the best IMO

Edit: You don't like those Death or Malevolent Creation albums? Those two albums are the best by both of those bands.....well MC's Retribution might be better than the Ten Commandments

The 80's. That was the days of Metallica, Judas Priests, Testament, Napalm Death, and so many other bands.

My favorite albums are pretty well diluted over the mid 90's for the most part. No one year stands out off the top of my head...

Massacra - Enjoy the Violence
Order From Chaos - Stillbirth Machine
Funebre - Children of the Scorn

Why replace? they simply add to the roster.

Still nothing compared to '92 though.
