Just bought "Mabool" last week, absolutely fantastic! Really love the blend of styles. As you can see I'm a big Opeth fan, and while I'm still fairly new to the melodic death genre...I've yet to find a band that has the creativity, talent, and overall excellence that Opeth brings. Until now that is, these guys have a great thing going and I'm excited to hear their earlier albums and can't wait to see what they do in the future. A lot of the guys on the Opeth board don't like these guys though, go figure??

Wondering though, I can't seem to get sound on the videos from the official site...does anyone have different links to those that may work for me? Could just be my old PC.. :erk: And have they ever played those vids on Headbangers Ball? I usually record it, but I'm wondering if they had played them back before I started watching?

Anyway, fantastic band!!... :headbang:

try updating your windows media player and getting the appropriate codecs, a program that will tell you what codecs you need is GSpot ( google it), with this program you can select a video file (one thats already downloaded to your computer) and it will analyze the file and tell you what codecs you need for it to play properly.

Hey Seth'Peth! I'm Matti, Orphaned Land's guitarist. Nice to meet you and to hear you're taking interest with us.

I'm also a big Opeth fan. Can someone not be? I mean, they are so innovative and creative, I lack the words to express their greatness. People tend to compare us to them a lot and say that we have much in common with them, and I think an Opeth fan will have lots to find in OL's music. The funny thing is that we were never directly inspired from them, and the musical similarieties come, I guess, from sharing the same "outer" inspirations.

About our videos, no, they were never on Headbangers Ball. About you not getting any sound: try getting the right codecs, like station82o just said.

And hey - we have a gig in Atlanta in Septembre! What are the chances of seeing you there?

Talking about videos on the site:
The audio files there: they don't work, I sent somebody to listen to them, the files wouldn't open, I tried downloading myself: They don't budge....
why is that :?

Thanks for the notes on the media player, I'll check it out...but I'm still running 98 SE...having problems upgrading anything these days. Time for a full upgrade soon.

Matti and Yossi(hope it's really you), thank you for "Mabool"...outstanding album. I've gained quite an appreciation for your native music from songs like "The Kiss Of Babylon" and "Norra El Norra". I sure wish I could see you at ProgPower, not in the cards for me. But hopefully someday you'll make your way to our desert in Arizona...my best chance to see any show unfortunately.

Thanks also for the replies, cool that you guys post here...you'll develope a huge American fan base very soon I predict... :headbang:

OK, I made sure I used realplayer for them and it worked fine. Good vids, really like "Norra El Norra"...the whole song, but the piano at the end especially...excellent!

I really wish headbangers ball would play some different videos like these. I admit I'm not much of a metalcore fan, so sometimes there's only 2 or 3 I even watch...usually classic ones.

Hi ! And wellcome to the boards...
Im also a big fan of OL and Opeth altough I think they are not that similar at all... but thats just my opinion... they are both great!!!
And u my friend are from the land of another great band... Phoenix Arizona right?? The headquarters of all thing Mega;)

Wellcome!!!

I think their similarity comes only from the melo-death style, the ability to mix the beautiful with the brutal and make it work perfectly. I don't think the sound is all that similar either, I will say that Kobi has given me faith that there's someone else who can sing both growls and clean as well as Mikael...I'm increasingly amazed at his versatility.

Yes, Phoenix is home to quite a few rock and metal alumni, Mustaine, Alice Cooper, Rob Halford, Flotsam and Jetsam...probably quite a few others.

Thanks for the welcome! Seth
