Brendan O'Brien to produce new Killswitch

Smart move. Not that I didn't like As Daylight Dies, but Killswitch was getting incestuous. I think an outside producer will do them good.

:lol::lol::lol:

good analogy, the last killswitch is like a trainwreck in that u dont wanna look (or listen to) but u cant turn away lol ill admit i still throw it on my ipod once in a while but i cant help but think of kids playing guitar hero when i hear my curse lol

personally i would love for them to put out something a little heavier like black dahlia murder but with singing...

adam's mixes are usually sweet as hell but he is like the andy jr of mixing lol

I wasn't overly fond of the drums on ADD, the tracking was tight as hell, I thought the songs were great too. Guitar sound was awesome too.

I don't know how much more O'Brien can bring to the table in terms of production - I think its going to be more of an influence on the song writing and layering of songs etc; although thats not to say that Adam will be doing everything on the sonic front. Going to be interesting to see what kind effect having an outside producer has on them.

This is my fav band by far, probably bc I love the cheese. I am stoked regardless of who is producing bc this band seems to deliver consistantly well written songs.

+1. The talent in KSE is incredible. They are one band that had a huge influence on my songwriting in terms of structures, and using 3/4 for big chorus's :). Despite the amount of flak they seem to pick up, I really think they are one of the best bands that has come up in recent years.

I dunno, I give props to Killswitch for having two super tight (rhythm) players, great production, and occasionally really good songs with great catchy choruses ("My Curse" rules, I can't deny EDIT: well, except for the verse, it's too bluesy/Pantera for my tastes), but I just find a lot of the songs on their last two albums to be very dull and uninspired sounding (HoJo doing the same 5th interval jump at the beginning of like half of the choruses on EoH, the occasional horrid breakdown/spoken word part, etc.), and when I compare them to any of the Euro bands (especially SCAR SYMMETRY, my new love) who are also doing the scream verse/sung chorus thing, there's just no contest IMO - Killswitch to me is like so much of this modern movement of American metal, taking the active ingredient of what the Scandinavians have been doing but none of the soul...

I think they certainly have formulas that work for them - I mean all bands do, so of course there will be similarities between songs. Whether people like it or not they have basically shaped a whole genre's style of playing guitar and drums - not many bands can say that. They have certainly influenced the way I pick at notes now - they really pound the strings. I think that despite the fact that the genre is somewhat generic (!!!!), they put out some cracking riffs and don't really settle for anything less.

I think their albums have serious consistency - so much so I can't really pick many songs as being better than others by them.

Not really on topic, but I found a picture of some Framus Dragon settings that I'm assuming Adam D is using:

Here it is

He produced Korn's Issues and mixed Korn's Follow the Leader and Limp Bizkit's Significant Other, Chocolate Starfish, and Results May Vary.

They represent the Mass scene pretty well....they also spawned literally countless shitty KSE sounding clones. A mass show isn't complete without a KSEclone band ripping through breakdowns.

ssssssiiiiiiiiigggggggghhhhhhhhhh - you almost say that like it's a good thing :erk:

but the mastering killed any life on ADD...

yea i heard it was supposed to be called "as dynamics die. . ."

 sorry i had to. . .

btw did anyone realize that theres a band called graveworm that has an album called when daylight ends or some shit... im not such a big fan but i wonder if adam and the crew is aware, they prob just said fuckit dude its metal who cares
