Brendan O'Brien to produce new Killswitch

They represent the Mass scene pretty well....they also spawned literally countless shitty KSE sounding clones. A mass show isn't complete without a KSEclone band ripping through breakdowns.

Its unfortunate bc it makes your local scene become really bland, but its like one of those things that comes with the territory when a band starts something like that ya know. Especially when you live in that area it was started in. So I can totally feel your pain.

The worst part is most of those bands that sound like Killswitch copycats dont do it nearly as well so its just wack!

He produced Korn's Issues...

Did he mix Issues? That mix is putrid, especially the drums. I think KsE will benefit from the outside producing as well, but it hasn't been explained yet if O'Brien is actually mixing or not. I guess one of the good things here, is that some bands (Metallica) don't have even the slightest clue about the importance of the mix engineer, whereas I could never imagine Adam D. letting KsE get by with a bad mix.

I think he did, and yes the mix on Issues is Francis Ford CRAPola.

Just produced it I believe. He's done a lot of work with bands like Lifehouse, Pearl Jam, produced the new AC/DC. Looking at his portfolio, I don't see much that is similar to KSE.

And I can't Imagine Adam D letting that happen either.

Yeah, thats the last thing I would want to hear. Now I wouldnt mind them going heavier and playing some of the heavier riffs like from AOJB, but to have a Black Dahlia Murder thing going on would be totally unlike them and I dont know kind of lame, but thats a personal opinion ofcourse.

Pretty good news, the last album was just a recombination of their past compositions...

Brendan can come in a have a fresh/different look, throw in some electronics maybe here in there, some new ideas.

Back OT, what else has Brendan O'Brien done?

He did pretty good work with that other band with a black singer...

BO'B also produced and/or mixed and/or engineered and/or played bass on my favorite albums by Michael Penn, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Raging Slab, Aimee Mann, and Soundgarden. O'Brien and Jon Brion were the producers 90% responsible for the non-metal part of my soundtrack to the 1990s.

except randy staub

KSE is one of this bands I realy want to hear without tirggering. With more dynamic and more life in the songs!!!

No, Opeth needs dynamic and life in their songs, a band like Killswitch needs consistent power so 100% replaced kick FTW!

but the mastering killed any life on most modern metal albums...

fixxxed

edit: I really hope they don't smash this album against the brickwall. Listen to "Life is peachy" from Korn for example: Man that album is atleast as loud as Issues, but it still has the dynamics in there. It's just mixed differently

Wow, i didnt pick the Triggering in any of their stuff......

Not even on "When darkness falls"?
