Built myself a porta-booth

It cost me a little over 50 bucks.

Edit: I've uploaded some comparison samples one with the booth and one without as requested. Download them here.
They're both really mono tracks, but I exported into stereo on accident.

In the ghettoooooooooooo

;) :) sounds good man, gotta build me one of those!

Interesting idea! I think it would be very tricky to get decent mic placement since the mic has to be deep into the booth to really get any benefit from the treatment inside of it though..

Maybe if you cut the back so it folds down and then adjust the mic, then fold the back back up then tape it shut? :erk: A zipper would be cool. Or velcro.

Even so the mic would be like 5 inches away from the speaker : It would be neat to try though!

I don't think so with a 57 or i5. You could still point it at the speaker and on the grill. It would sit towards the front of the booth but still inside it while the booth sits right up against the cab. I think it would work. Don't know about the sound though.

Wow, that sounds awesome!
In fact, im going to build one when i get zie moneyz yes!
What a great ape by the way(harharharhar). :goggly:

I really want to build me one, but I´m having a hard time finding any store that will ship to Europe... :-(

Edit: Wohoo, just fund some collapsible cubes on ebay, the downside is that they´re in pretty girly colors whit dog paw on them... Well well, it´s better than nothing!

Please excuse my ignorance... I can hear a difference between the two Audio clips you shared with us. It sounds as if the "No Booth" clip has more highs, and an airy type of sound. The "Booth" clip sounds like it has a bit more bass, and lacks any other noise that may have been in the "No Booth" clip.

So which one do I want as an engineer? Is the "Booth" clip how things are meant to sound?

Like I said - please excuse my dumb-ass, but apparently I have a lot left to learn.

Thanks.

Is it always best to have as much foam/soundproofing actually around the mic as possible? Obviously, a real vocal booth is totally lined with it. I messed around using just some eggcrate foam before, and messed with setting it up different ways. Mic on stand, with pop filter, deep inside the foam (foam shaped sort of a "C" shape), same setup with mic more towards the outside of the foam, etc.....didn't really notice much difference.
