Can In Flames be called In Flames these days?

Whilst in theory a tour of the older albums would be cool, in practice I can't see it working. I don't think Anders' voice could handle it for a start, and even if it could, I'm not sure enough people would attend to make it worthwhile. They've alienated the vast majority of their older fans, most of whom actively dislike the band nowadays.

Why do a show and/or tour of older songs if they'd get bigger crowds with the newer songs? In Flames has been run as a business for some time, so it would go against the grain for them to consider something that would make them less money IMO.

Good point.

The argument isn't if they would do it. We know they would never. IF is one of the only heavy metal bands that aren't proud of their first few albums and don't just respect them like they should... Love what you do now, but have pride for what you did. They don't follow this motto.

You're really upset, don't you? Why don't you try to care about real things in life instead of putting all your efforts into some random band?
Are you autistic? This is like your 3rd reply in which you clearly invested yourself, and call me out for the same thing. Basically what you are spouting is "HAHA, U MAD? BET YA MAD. I IANT MAD, U MAD BRAH. HAH." ZzzzZzzzZz

But, since you say that Jesper said that LS was shit, I'm sure you can provide prove of it (I will keep my own opinion about that album).
I've read and watched a million IF interviews and snippets, didn't bookmark any of it. The full context was that they (IF back then, so basically Jesper and some session musicians) recorded a demo, and when a label asked if they have the whole album ready, they said sure. But they did not have it, so they had to make a bunch of songs fast to meet the release deadline. Lunar Strain was basically an attempt to grasp Jesper's vision of some different kind of metal music, but I don't even have to mention TJR, because even Subterranean shows they left behind A LOT of elements from LS. I know there is an interviews where Anders talks about every record - that's where he said that the recording of Clayman was a disaster and that's why they searched for a new team to produce albums with -, I think it was for a radio show? Once again, did not bookmark anything.

And what do you know about that? The Jester Race is one of the cult melodeath albums. How can you know what TJR represents for the band? You don't know. You're just acting like a spoiled brat.
Okay, I'm just a spoiled brat, shooting empty bullets. I sincerely apologize, I should've think reasonably. Clearly a band which haven't played a single song from that album in 3 years values it oh so highly.

Of course you don't. You don't want to hear something that goes against your arguments.
You are right, you brought up an example which goes against my argument. Unheard of. I mean, there are thousands of bands and performers who support mine, but goddamn, you got Iron Maiden on your side. Welp, if Iron Maiden did it, then common sense doesn not matter. I suppose IF is now forced to play some shows like that.

Don't tell the "I have to hear about Iron Maiden" like if they're nothing. They're one of the most influential bands ever and probably the biggest Heavy Metal band (no, don't talk about Metallica. Metallica always counted with the help of the media, Iron Maiden didn't, and still they're selling tons of records, even of bad records, and touring and making an effort that neither Metallica nor shit Tredt Reznor will never achieve).
Reznor already outdid them, not to mention how basically everyone falls flat to him if we are talking about every area of music. Don't be a child headbutting the wall like that. Whose music is better, or have higher quality is debateable, so feel free to call Trent's music shit, but if you let your sheer amount of hate and fanboyism to IM make you ignorant, then you are just stupid.

Same goes for Metallica. Look at this shit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metallica_discography and your best defense is that they were supported by the media? Geee, I guess that million platinum certificates can go to the dustbin now, because this underground indie band called Iron Maiden had it oh so much harder.

Man...

Oh, so you think that in a real band, not some fake like NIN, al the musicians write all of the songs?
Did... did you actually just write that? Sure, not all musicians write their own songs, but what the hell, do oyu think Metallica hired some hobo musician to do some cool riffs for them and sold it as their own?

Not sure how the "fakeness" of NIN even came up as something relevant in your mind. Yes, technically it's not a band, but a project, ran by one man. All right, NIN actually outdid many-many famous bands with 4-5-6 talented musicians alone. I'm sure Reznor can't sleep at night with the ego boost this gives to him.

I'm not judging anyone for singing lyrics which is not his/her, but you can't just expect someone not loving his own children more than other's. Anders is in a lucky position, because he never got into a situation in which the singers of Drowning Pool have been with Bodies. There are actually many-many songs which their fans, sorry, most of their fans would like to hear more than something old being played just for the sake of it.

No, you have a problem since you deny the others the chance to express themselves, and you decided to do this through insulting him.
No, if you have a stupid idea like Darth Jester, then do not express yourself. It's not even an idea, it's just regular crying; it was other posters who turned his numbskull outrage at IF into an actual idea.

You're so stupid and paid of yourself. I' m not interested in this anymore. It is boring and a waste of my (everyones')time.

I love how you are just a caricature of yourself. Keep up the entertainment.

I love that you lump every person whose beliefs challenge yours into one big pile of IF hate.

Go back and reply to my comment and the exact points I made. Actually address what I said. Not anyone elses opinions being thrown into your reply to MY post.

Without some preconceived notion or thought that I'm offending the band beforehand.

There's nothing to argue with in your post. Guys like YOU made this shitty, mentally challenged thread's and OP's crying into something which actually makes sense.

Could they play a show like this? Yes. Will they? Who knows. Would people go to a show like that? Yes. Is that proposed setlist fine? Sure.

Now, compare it to:

"OMFG NI FLAMZ PSL CAHNEG NEAM PSL I DO NTO LEIK UR MUZKI NAO, LOKO I MAED A THRAED BAUOT TI, MOM YUO SEE?" - :)

Also, battling with ""arguments"" like "BUT IRON MAIDEN DID IT, YOU KNOW, THAT INDIE BAND" is as easy as it gets. I'm just keeping the haters in check, bringing light on either how stupid they are (this thread and its' OP) or just how blinded (our torreador).

Yeah, I'm smarter than the average, I can say that after seeing the events and reactions in Europe the recent weeks, but some of you guys do everything to make me look like Einstein, when posting the dumbest shits possible. At least all of us are happy, so I'm all aboard to the journey to the all time low of this board.

There must tough to be you. How can such a privlileged mind deal with morons like me (us if anyone wants to join the club)? I really wish that I could catch even a glimpse of your wisdom but, sadly, my lack of modals, modesty and intellect won't allow me.

Nah, you are not a moron; you just lose all your reason if you get upset and makes arguments into some personal war. Then you look like a moron, sure, but that's different.

The OP's post was ignorant and nothing but fuel to the modern-IF hate fire.

Then the conversation turned to most of us talking about some kind of anniversary show where early material was played for fun and as a throwback.

It was just a what-if scenario and it wasn't a big deal. Nor is it uncommon for a band with a large catalog to do so.

Was just a dumb little fun thing to converse about.

Then this thread turned into a war for some reason

It's all your fault. :D

Plenty. Everyone and their mother likes Maiden. They're one of those bands where nowadays it's pretty much an event every time they release a new album, and for good reason. Anyone who can't at least appreciate the classics for the masterpieces they are doesn't get to pretend they like metal.

Don't you just love a good fight in the internet? So cool, as is derailing threads...

But honestly, the difference is massive. 90s In Flames is from a completely different place.
