Celestion T75 Impulse Responses, PODxt and 5150

Just for the sake of getting to know this process, I made 1 impulse with an Audix i5 on my Randall G2 cab. The speakers in this are 'seventy 80's, I had the mic 1 inch away from the cone (not grill, cone), straight on - bottom speaker.

splat, were you using curve eq as well? can you tell us the complete signal chain within cubase.

I wish I still had the project file for the 5150 clip. I had to reinstall my opertaing system and I forgot to back that one up. From memory here's how I did it. There's definitely only 2 guitar performances. One left 95% and one right 95%. But each performance in cloned once and processed with a different impulse response. Look at post #30 for the impulses I used. Then all the guitar tracks were bussed to a group channed, then EQ'ed with a Q10, then limited with an L2 or L3 with about 4dbs chopped off on palm mutes.

Hm. One question comes to mind. Can you do an impulse response of your favorit head+cab with your favorite settings?

As I understand it, that's not really the point of impulses. It's kinda like an extension of reverb, so you can't simulate an amp as such.

I think the way to look at it is this: those impulses are how the ROOM sounds with that cab in it, not how the CAB sounds - and the room will sound the same (pretty much) regardless of the cab/amp settings.

through my old Behringer DI BOX G100 then in my cheap behringer 6 chanel mixer and in my EMU 1212.

The pickups are Dimarzio EVO

the effects send of my 5150 combo into my audiophille sound card does not work....WTF

edit: Works but the level is very low....what level did you have the amp set at? I hear the efx loop is post gain dependent...

You're gonna need a preamp. For the 5150 I plugged the output into my MPA pre. The PODxt out I just plug straight into the audiocard.

With that Juicy amp sim, do you find it's a bit hard to get gain out of it? I have to crank the pre gain to max and the lead input to max, and even then it has more of a twangy saturated sound, almost like I'm distorting single coil.

Download the tubescreamer plugin, run it before the amp sim and your problems are solved.
