I am also really, really diggin' the Vanden Plas disc. It will be in my top five this year most definatley!:kickass:

MMA is pretty good as well, but I like the Christ 0 so much more.

Cool !! Glad you are digging it as well. I'd say there is about a 99.999999999999999% chance it will be my disc of the year. Some band would have to release something absolutely earth shattering to top that one in my ears There was a whole lot of work put into that VP disc and it shows. :headbang:

I'm in my fourth listen of Christ 0 now, and it continues to grow on me. The production is 10 stars! By contrast, I've only listened to the Evergrey twice...it's just not calling to me. Too much other great stuff to listen to!

The weird thing is that Vanden Plas delayed the release date of Christ 0 because they weren't happy with the final mix. Now if this is a bad mix, what will the final product sound like ? I thought the production was awesome as well.

I hope they aren't messing around with the mix much if at all. It's very balanced to my ears. I hate when the vocals are to far in front on any band. Same with any of the other instuments as well. This CD kicks ass as it is.:kickass: No need to screw around with it.

I can't imagine it being any better than it is. I hope they're not mixing the vocals more to the front! You already know how I feel about Andy's voice, so I'd be happy if they just make it an instrumental album. :loco:

TSO..... I don't mean to preach at you, but I can't help it. VP kicked my ass so hard on this release, I still have to sit down ever-so-slowly. Give Andy a chance. I realize it is only his shrill tonality on the higher stuff that bugs you, but it actually did the same to me when I first discovered VP. I first learned to overlook it, then just expect it, and now even enjoy it. The same thing happened with me the first time I heard Udo song. I thought he was abslutely terrible !!
Don't get me wrong chief.... people like what they like and it is not up to me to tell them what to like and not to. As long as I have been in this forum, I have only really "pushed" three modern releases on people, namely Beyond Daylight, Modus Vivendi and this one, but those particular ones hammered me so hard I felt obligated to do so.
Try to appreciate the emotion Andy puts into some of his stuff. If you listen to the bonus track at about the 3:10 mark, when Andy sings "Alright I'll die," the passion he puts into that is off the charts. As I said earlier... I am not trying to force you into anything..... I simply want people to experience as much musical bliss as I do while listening to this release.

Ah, I was just razzing you about that "instrumental" comment, buddy. :D Andy does have his moments and I am getting used to his shrill parts...I still don't like them, but they don't bother me as much as they used to. I expect in time I'll come to accept them as just part of the music. That's the one thing I can say for Christ O, it's such a masterpiece of music it is forcing me to become adjusted to the vocals. (And like I've said, this soft parts and lower registers I already appreciate).

Orphaned Land - Mabool was the same way for me. I used to refuse to listen to death metal vocals, but that album kicked so much ass I was forced to listen to them and therefore become desensitized to them. Heck, I've even come to like them a little (as long as they're used sparingly as in Mabool).

It will probably be the same with Andy. It'll just take some time. Eventually you'll be preaching to the choir my friend...just be patient.

I hope so, but not for selfish reasons. I would love to say..... "Bow to Bryant !!" I told you this release would kick your ass Bwa ha ha...." but although I might do just that :loco: I just hope I can get one or two people to feel the magic I feel in that release. I haven't had my ass kicked that hard in a long time.
It took me almost ten years to get a small newsgroup I post at to finally admit Vanden Plas is indeed God of metal, but my mind control has taken a little longer to master than I have expected. I will start the "send me a check for $10,000 posts soon now that I have mastered my technique of course. :worship:
