I have a question for Andy: do you use things like Waves MaxxBass or any other psycho-acoustic devices to deal with the low end of your mixes?
I have once or twice but very rarely, its not something I usually do put it that way

May be a dumb question here, but does anyone use a parametric equalizer between an sm57 and the pre amps? I have a presonus eq3b which I have used to good effect between the 2. I am asking because I have not read anything anywhere on this subject. I record everything twice, once without the eq and once with. It sounds pretty good without, but I always go with the eq. I have no re amp box yet, hence the twice bits.
Thanks Andy and everyone here for questions and answers, this is becoming my second favourite thread, closley behind, DO YOU PEE IN THE SHOWER? thread.![]()
Sorry to be an ass, but the first question is a general one, and couldn't only be answered by Andy, you should start a new thread with this question. And the second question is completely unrelated to Andy as far as production/mixing goes, and that's what this thread is for, not to find out about Andy's personal life!
pretty much algorithmic, seems to do what it says on the tin.

And I asked for everyones opinion, not just Andys
From the first post:
- No questions that do not DIRECTLY apply to Andy and/or could be just as well be answered by someone else! For example "should I use X or Y to record my guitars". Create their own thread for those questions
And answer to your question does Andy pee in the shower was already answered in the thread itself: http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/8252270-post20.html
And no, I don't use eq when recording. Highpass filter, maybe.
Andy, would you ever sue someone if you found out they used your samples from this forum in a major commercial release?
Thanks for the answer Andy. Here's another one to keep you busy:
Do you like out of the box new SM57s or do you mod them like some people do (remove the transformer or whatever)?

and are you using the MH on Drums on smooth-setting or on warm?
do you have a favorite sm57?
I mean they sound almost as different as the 4 speakers in one box, so I thought you might perhaps a favorite one in your arsenal.
cheers
