Computer/Technology Thread

Yeah Ofcourse, I am more looking for the longevity though. I am soon graduating fomr this school and then when I live in a shitty ass apartment,in a shitty ass place on shitty ass food with a shitty ass rent I will not afford new parts or new computers for a while(hopefully not as long period as 8 years again though )

that's why my mac is perfect for me.
I will never upgrade it, I rather spend my money on 'studio' equipment to record shitty bands and get money :D and I also need it for University ,so fuck that.

Enjoy replacing the whole mac when the power switch gets broken.

and when you eventually do upgrade enjoy spending 4x more than we would for apple only hardware.
That's kind of the point with the longevity. They have a much longer lifespan before they get 'outdated'. That has much to do to the difference of the OS too, it's low requiring on resources and that shiz.

I'll just get to the nearest apple dealer and shove it up his ass till it works.

I am not looking for a gaming computer though...Just occasional gaming.

My school bought gave me a $3800 check to get a Mac... ridiculous... I will hopefully pick it up this afternoon.

17 inch 2.8ghz Duo Core, 4GB ram... with 3 year AppleCare warranty and Final Cut Pro...

You know what kind of rape PC I could have gotten with $3800???

Fuck :( I feel sorry for you :(

it is indeed expensive (mine was about 900€ and now i get the standard macbook for 750€ with student discount) but at least you dont have to buy every year 100 of parts to be up to date with your performance.

That's mostly for gaming.

If you use the same recording software, and it runs fine on your setup, you can in theory have the computer forever untill it breaks.

I got a good +1300€ as a budget honestly. I also played TF2 today, got so hooked I will probably buy it and start Steam account this weekend. So regardless if I go macfag or Microsoftdick I will play it...definetly!

No you won't.
Steam doesn't work on Macs.
:(

Boot camp, motherfucker. Can you use it?

@Ensi: True, but PCs do tend to slow down =/ Also, the specs are not nearly in the same proportions as on a pc. The OS requires so much less and It does in fact work better. If you want to be gaming though you should probably look elsewhere.

EDIT: To contradict that you are required to actually have experience of one. I find it most are bashing it and jumping on the bandwagon or just looking at the specs and snorting.

Still haven't decided on what I'm getting though. Ideas?

Watch this man, it's rofl.

Well, that also varies on how you treat the computer.

never bothered, would only use steam and my computer has such a shit graphics card.

^^Also because the faggot was trying to run it through a emulator or simulator or what you want to call it. Still quite funny

using CodeWeavers CrossOver.

Got a friend with the white entry model and he can max out the graphics and play it smoothly.

The only reason you think MACs have a longer life span is because there is no need to upgrade them for playing GAMES. Apart from gaming there is absolutely no reason a PC would need to be upgraded before a MAC.

In short, Macs are fucking gay.

Seriously, the majority of the nugget cruncher macfags, have it because they jumped on the macwagon. Other people liek Snowy (i hope) put it to good use.

Everyone i've talked to, except my old teacher, said they wanted a mac because it was "cool", "the best computer ever" or e-peen.

A Windows PC with your budget, will be plenty for your needs, and will still run good after a good couple of years.
AND you won't have any compatability issues, you will be able to play games, and that shit.

Get PC, seriously.
