Core?

What is core? Seriously?
It's like some 1-chord breakdown shit from what I understand?

most real hard-CORE has nothing to do with breakdowns...

all core stuff comes from hardcore.
Hardcore was named that way because of porn.

Punk-rock was soft like freeTV sexy clips, and Hardcore was the heavy porn.
No joke

So ask the porn industry why its called hardcore

Now a days it's pretty much pedal riffing with EXTREME emphasis on breakdowns, throw in some dissonant breakdowns here and there, chugs plastered throughout the song, clean vocal pop choruses that can be/usually are auto tuned, and a lack of flowing transitions in songs. "Cookie cutter" metal. There is almost 0 hardcore influence in 99% of metalcore, which is another reason why people are turned off by the idea.

Metalcore used to be bands like Coalesce, Earth Crisis, 7 Angels 7 Plagues, Hopesfall, Poison the Well, Converge. Now the bands you'll see as metalcore are As I Lay Dying, Asking Alexandria, Bring Me the Horizon, every other band you'll see mentioned in this forum.

There are some metalcore bands that still give me faith in the scene. Misery Signals, It Prevails, Counterparts, Shai Hulud, all great bands that actually sound like hardcore mixed with metal.

EDIT: ^ Beat me to it.

One thing though. Punk = Soft? I disagree.

btw. sneap did a lot of metalcore and stuff....
Killswitch engage, despiced icon, as i lay dying, 36 crazyfitz the list goes on and on.

If its good music its good music, dont make your head explode because of all this sub-genre (and lifestyle decisions)

Besides 36 he only mixed those bands, he said himself it STARTED with KSE and has now gotten very stale with every band sounding the same.

If its good music its not metalcore if thats how you want me to put my personal opinion on it.

Exactly, of which those topics now have a brand new forum to reside on :D

Only one of the bands I mentioned are a band that would be asked about on the other forum. Trust me, I wish all those mediocre generic bands would go away too, but just because they are terrible doesn't mean I would base the whole genre on them. Saying good music isn't metalcore is kind of a stretch. Maybe good music isn't 3rd wave metalcore is better ;)

Just my opinion that im not a fan of metalcore :p Even the "good" metalcore, I guess you would say KSE...

Used to refer to genres that stemmed or took influence from Hardcore.

Now it refers to genres that take influence from Metalcore.

Simple as that, just listen to bands that have -core attached I'm sure you have enough musical nous to figure out what aspects of the music -core describes. ;)

There's too much metal and rock in this forum, I think we need to fill Rate my Mix section with Rebecca Black multitracks.

Core sucks!

Fuuck!!!, where the fuck is THE fucking METAL in this fucking forum?
