Cradle of Filth

well I'm not gonna list 20 songs like all the rest o the pplz on here who can't decide what ONE SONG they like best. Damnation and A Day had nothing for me, too monotonous. My favorite I'd say is.... Funeral In Carpathia cuz Dani goes insanely high with his screaming on there.

My favorite cradle instrumental song (can we make this another category for pplz to decide also?) has got to be Dinner At Deviant's Palace. Any cradle fan would know that when u play that song backwards, it says the Our Father. I think it's creepier played straight, though.

call this a stupid question: how do people play songs/albums backwards exactly?

Yesm, that's the real glory of Cradle of Filth. Dani's immense lyrical prowess. Nothing i've seen that's like them in that respect.

The man is a lyrical genius. Too bad he butchers his poetry with those terrible high pitched screams of his.

He could just write the lyrics for CoF, and have another guy do vocals, like Shagrath from Dimmu or Ihsahn from Emperor or Killstar from And Oceans.

Having a corpsepainted squealing midget for a frontman doesn't help you in the eyes of metalheads that already dislike your band for going commercial.

ShadowofDeath: First, you will need to have the file that is to be reversed in .wav format. You can find mp3-wav converters from http://download.com.com (I recommend DBPowerAmp converter) If you have Windows and not Mac on your comp, then just open the windows sound recorder from the start menu-programs-accessories-entertainment-sound recorder. Once you open up the sound recorder, load the wav file into it (open) and select Effects from the menu at the top. It will drop down letting you click the option "reverse" just save the file after that and convert it to mp3 to reduce the size. There's probably another easier way to do it (especially if you have Nero WaveEditor that comes with the NERO cdburning software), but those are the only 2 methods I know of

Yeah, the lyrics for 13 Autumns and a Widow is what got me hooked. The lyrics were printed in an issue of Metal Blade I bought back in 98, I read them, and the next day I bought CatB.

And has anybody noticed that a lot of Dani's lyrics, especiallu on Midian, have almost a Dr. Seuss quality to them? In terms of rhyme schemes, rhythms, etc.

Well, Dr. Seuss was a genius, so I guess that was a compliment.

I heard that CoF's first albums were pretty good, though...
