cradle of filth

Well, there really is no such thing as "Gothic Music", because a real goth, someone who is all apathetic and depresed, wouldn't give a rats ass about makeing music such as this. So I think that Cradle is like symphonic hard core metal.

I think you're clueless.

Comes from someone with SlipknoT like an avatar...nothing aganist S. at all, but both bands are on the same level.

Only from the fan side.
CoF has talented and skillful musicians and singer that used to be briliant when it came to vocal skills.

The more I read Fredy_Brown's posts the more I am convinced he is some kind of joke account.

But Slipsour sucks even worse now. Even though Nymphetamine was a horrible cd. I would have to admit I liked them even up to Damnation
And A Day but now there Black Metal's version of Linkin Park. I hope
roadrunner doesn't ruin Opeth like they did with this band and Fear Factory.

I dont really like putting bands into a neat little genre. But cradle, certaint their first few albums - probably up to median, could be best described as regular death metal. But things like Damnation and a day are more so Hard rock/Heavy Metal rather than death metal

How are they death metal? Their music incorporates no death metal influence whatsoever. Sorry. but I've never understood this reference. Death Metal is a particular style, one that CoF has never embraced (aside from early demo-work maybe).

Given that 90% of metal enthusiasts can't think for themselves, you should feel no remorse for listening to music that you enjoy. CoF is an image-oriented band, which is what makes them such an easy target for proclaimed elitists alike. If you like the theatrics and everything else that comes with the music though, then by all means like the band.

One of the rare sensible posts on this forum.

I don't love CoF - in fact I don't listen to them at all any more - but Dusk and Her Embrace was a very good album. These days I don't find them particularly inspiring but I'm not going to get caught up in the whole 'If you're a metal fan you must despise CoF' shit.

I still don't see how they are "black metal's version" of anything. They aren't black metal.

And Roadrunner (despite being a shitty label) never ruined them at all, they've been on the decline for years. I wouldn't say Nymphetamine is horrible. I love their first 4 albums, yet I can still enjoy their last few even though its obvious their glory days died years ago. However you must take into consideration, the amount of line-up changes - this obviously has impacted the band. Dani Filth is the only one who's been there from the beginning, aside from Paul who left and later re-joined the fold.

aren't you tired of topics about what genre is cof, or what genre is dimmu.

Exactly. I don't understand this fascination that people have with labelling bands. Its music. Disliking a band because of what genre they fit or don't fit into is just stupid.
