What does it matter who I am? I may as well ask who you are. I post here, same as you, and I'm not exactly new. I'm usually on the Katatonia board, but this isn't my first posting experience here -- just the first one where I've interacted with you. And no, I don't expect people to 'fall at my feet' -- where you get that idea I have no clue. I never asked for people's respect (much less yours) around here -- all I did was disagree with you. End of story.

yea..."youre done".

redundancy...meaning EVERY DAMNATION RIFF SOUNDS VERY SIMILIAR TO THE OTHER DAMNATION RIFFS. am i the only one who has noticed this? very little variation in style or technique. thus: semi weak tracks often times.

the circus melody: 4:00 on to rid the disease. if ANYONE hears the term "circus melody on damnation" and doesnt know what im referring to, they obviously dont have enough draw on this record to join in on this discussion.

and even if you like the offbeat vocals against the music on in my time of need...that doesnt change the fact that it sounds like poo.

There is an overall 'sound' to Damnation, and a good one at that. If you want wild changes every few seconds, no, Damnation ain't going to be your record of choice. Call me crazy, but i prefer this to the mindnumbingly cliched guitars of Shallow...or the "oh, looks like its time for the emotional track where he sings along to nothing but softly played piano, before it adds on amazingly layers of complexity with (my god, what a composer!) slowly played drums!" of Lazarus...or the stupid lyrics, spoken through Wilson's "cool voice" filter, played over the top of looped guitars of Halo.
Oh, and overall, i still like Deadwing alot. But it sure as hell has its share of filler...

Hahhaha i had to go listen to that 'circus' bit to see what you were on about. I always thought that strange bit in BTPISIO was more circus-like...i guess i sadly do not have enough to draw on either....*sigh*

personally, i think this topic has been beaten into the ground at this point. but i see where youre coming from.

but dont get me wrong, i like damnation a lot, and i think that its a great album...i meant in no way to try and degrade it here...i just feel people are writing off deadwing as a mediocre release when it is indeed far from it. especially in a context of being released in 2005 and sounding like it does.

I'm liking The Start of Something Beautiful a lot lately. Deadwing is definitly growing on me.
