For those of you who don't know.. I'm talking Dancing Mad from Final Fantasy 6. It's about 18 minutes long and is a brilliant composition. It has been performed by a band called The Black Mages as well, but is available in an inferior MIDI format! If you haven't heard, search for a midi.

I think the song has a lot of changes, many of them unexpected and a bunch of classical influence. If you're talking the band version, it's got great guitar work and soloing. And it has a very grim sound at times. Honestly I thought that was what Ghost Reveries would sound like back when Mike was saying the 30-minute long black metal opus!

...Anyone concur? Plus it has what could be called an "Opeth ending" but after that ending it goes into another part... sooo.... Yeah, pretty cool.

Can't say I've heard The Black Mages, nor that I recall that track by name. But from all the Nobuo stuff I have heard, whilst it is truly fantastically composed music... particularily the cover of One Winged Angel done on the Advent Children soundtrack, I don't see many similarities to Opeth at all.

The whole series pretty much has great music. I'm personally a big fan of the soundtrack of FF7 (even though the game itself is overrated).

A little bird flew down here and pecked out my uterus, even though I am not Saddam.

Just downloaded midi and opened it up with Cakewalk to see the score. Pretty cool stuff. Don't really see how you could compare it to Opeth at all though.
