God, why even post such stupidity? No singing! Vocals ruin music! Nothing clean! The unique mixture of gorgeous melancholy, stirring guitar work, crisp yet lush vocals and a true sense of what it is to 'progress' one's music is NOT WELCOME HERE!

what the fuck are you talking about:zombie:
take your tablets please, and DO IT NOW:)

if you like mikaels clean vocals and enjoy the dark, laid back style of damnation get Viva Emptiness by Katatonia. its not really laid back in the sense of 'Hope Leaves' but you should enjoy it :)

katatonia is a good band, but theyre certainly not "progressive"...merely mature regularly, so who ever gave them that description in this thread should probably have their teeth knocked out one by one with a tack hammer. anyway, hope you enjoy them...

all right im just listening to this excellent album right now, and here is a great example of "dark prog metal" that im proud of listening to (and this is very rare):

fates warning - a pleasent shade of gray

such a kick-ass album...no cheesiness, no gayness, no shredding, great atmosphere, great vocals, great lyrics, superior musicianship.

@ the thread author: no death vox, though. sorry. but im sure you must give them a try.

Just an opinion that the OP might want to hear...

to me...

Katatonia's Viva Empitness is defenitly not prog... defenitly not dark without sounding cheesey and... overall... it is a thoroughly boring album. I haven't heard any other Katatonia though. However, if that is their "masterpiece" album then I wouldnt bother spending money on any of their releases.

Akercocke's - Words that Go Unspoken , Deeds that Go Undone is dark and progressive... one of the better cd's i purchased recently...

Edit: The new Tool album would be a good one to hear too...

Also, I personally am not too crazy about it but it sounds like Draconian's - Arcane Rain Fell is right up your ally...

lol, i reccomended them because the guy likes mikael's vocal style, which imo is similar to jonas' on this release. sorry if this is a problem..

Brave Murder Day is. (And its nothing like Viva Emptiness). But I like Viva Emptiness personally, I find it relaxing and moving.

Funny. Whenever I read your posts I always feel like I'm reading a brochure on Cholera. What with the excessive verbal diarrhea you seem to suffer from and all.
