I have rarely talked about this but I have diabeties now for more than 3 years that I know of and it is absolutely taking my legs out from underneath me.
I can honestly say, My voice, My music my mind has evolved but I am eventually gonna lose ths fight..

Billy this has struck several people in my family, it took my grandmother at age 85.

My uncle 9 years my senior has it,,,he lost one leg from the knee down, and had a prostethic device installed.

months later he started losing his toes, and he took a big step and told them to take the other leg so he could have his mobility back.

because he voluntarily asked to have that section of leg removed he said they sent him a psychiatrist.

my uncle was steadfast in what he wanted,,,so he told the psychiatrist. that took of all of 5 minutes.

The psychiatrist asked if that was a golf course he passed on his left on the way into town...and my uncle looked at him and said, yep and its on your right on the way out...psychiatrist said have a nice day and that was that.

seeing him walk these past 2 years you'd barely know he had those limbs, he walks up to 3 miles at a time, and currently works as a courier across a large area.

in all honestly i think the battle has to do with attitude, in the end we all lose but its what we do to get to that point that makes a difference. All bullshit aside i don't see you as a quitter.

good luck and keep up on the diet and blood sugar.

Hang In there brother, You will be fine. Take care of yourself now with watching your diet so as not to expedite things. I'm not telling you anything you dont already know. What I should be doing is taking my own advice.

With all due respect...You are the last person I would expect to hear saying that they expected to lose. Have you ever backed down from a fight? That is what this is, a fight. I would say good luck but, that would imply that I thought you needed it. You don't.

I'm no expert but my cousin has it. By doing alot of cardio and managing her diet you wouldnt even know it. Consult with a DR. on how cardio may help. Its true what they say bro if ya don't use it ya lose it.

Wow, dude...I'm shocked...I'm taken back that you never mentioned this to me, but I understand there are certain things people don't like to talk about. I must admit it's weird to find out by reading it here, and equally weird to be responding here. I'll call you this week. You're a strong person and, as everyone is saying here, you're anything but a quitter. You're far too young to be giving up. Billy, you need to change your diet(including supplements), initiate a reasonable exercise routine and establish a new lifestyle...you know that. You've never been afraid of hard work, put that mindset into play here and fight through this.

Billy, you're a loyal and dedicated friend to anyone who really knows you...you need that same loyality and dedication to your health and to yourself.

I love you, brother...talk to you soon!

My grandfather had it for years and by watching his diet he lived with it for several years, the man liked sugar but he had to stop eating certain kinds of fruit.

And I have a friend who developed diabetes from his alcohol and drug-abuse.

Take care of yourself Billy and you´ll stay healthy.

Few of my friends have it and they are pretty much okay, they even drink like fish now and then...as far as I know. But it sucks ass for sure...

Billy Milano can kick diabeties' ass!
Diet is the biggest controllable factor.
I'll probably get it too, I drink way too much Coke and eat alot of fried food.
Well, I'm sure you know more about it than me. I just wanted to give some words of support.

Well there's several types of diabetes, aren't there? A couple of my family members have the less severe type, and are managing it well. One died a while back from the more severe type 2. The more severe types are the ones that take limbs and bring early death. Its not easy or even possible to overcome severe diabetes.

That's why the wasteful billions spent on AIDS is better spent on research into the causes and cures for diabetes, leukemia, and other common diseases.

I know all about AIDS. My wife did research under some of the biggest names in AIDS studies and her stories of waste and privilege still make by blood freeze!!

What i'm trying to say (badly) is if you're legs are getting fucked go skiing, climbing, TOURING, what ever you know what i'mean (fucked if i do!!)...on a lighter note if diabeties sends you downstairs would you do a ballad before ?:heh: . Fucking love ya man

Chin Up Billy,
I work in the medical profession and type II diabetes isnt a death sentence. Far from it. If you can learn to make certain lifestyle changes then there is no reason why you cant keep this thing in check. A word to the wise, If you havent had an eye test for a while I would do so. Diabetes can cause damage to the back of the eye if not controlled and you wont necessarily notice until late.

my daddy has it, as well as several friends.
it's not an automatic death sentence, or at least, it doesnt have to be.

as has been mentioned before, diet and exercise can go a long way to successfully managing diabetes.

good luck, Billy.

Most people have the less severe type and have a normal life. Some with the lightest forms of diabetes don´t have to inject or inhale insulin, just watch their diet and take care of themselves.

It will kill ya unless you change yer lifestyle, Don't go out like an American Fattass! Live your dreams, rock and roll, Live to Die another day or some shit like that!! hahahaha

change your diet, lose weight, then exercise more. The latter will help sensitize your body's cells to insulin, while the diet and the weight will allow you to use the insulin you have.

There are a few people who have reversed or become borderline diabetics that need no significant medication beyond the honeymoon period by doing the above.
